How is it that IGN UK gives it an 8.0 and IGN US gives it 5? Are the cultural differences so big?

question is, how did they manage to think it over a 6 period, game was the biggest linear piece of crap I've ever played, hell even FEAR wasn't as linear

i played this game and thought ........."__________________________________" .... it dont get much linear than a straight line- one thing about this game is good.....the gfx, the rest-crap AI, crap linearity, shortness of game , uselessness of most of the "team", the fiddly console mentality ("up,down left, left , right,oh i fucked it up and die,try again") just made me wanna uninstall after 10 mins play, but i played it from start to finish to see if it actually "got good later on".....IT DOESNT
in all honesty i expected sooooooooooooooooo much more from a clive barker game, check out the undying, a genuinely seminal and thrilling piece of gaming....then look at this steamy pile of shite...
hang your head in shame Clive
when there is no more room in hell, the D34D will walk the earth

As simplistic this game now maybe. I did like the story and atmosphere, see it more like a interactive movie or book.
I do have a problem, every member has their special power. But I can't figure out how to use the priests power...when I use it, his hands just start to glow and it does nothing?

Also finished a few days ago. If we forget about the dreadfully flat gameplay, there are some merits to the game.
For one there is the story. I personally always found these religiously-heavy, apocaliptic visions quite fascinating. For that I enjoyed the story quite a lot.
And of course the graphics. I can't recall any other game that managed to show blood, flesh and other "organic ugliness" this beleivably. Even though the enemies get very boring very fast, they are still very nicely crafted. The levels are quite nice, despite that they are being overly-linear. Every time I ran into some organic part in a level, I always found them very convincing. Especially the Spoiler: | Roman Baths, the fully organic level (for one of the body parts of the priest) and of course the river of blood with the spines of some gigantic creature scattered around (bigger than those goliaths with masks on). | Very memorable. And the best of all is that this translates to the characters too. Spoiler: | Seeing the children crusaders' insides constantly driping out from them was a bit nausiating for me. |
So my final conclusion:
Presentation: 9/10
Gameplay: 4/10 (only the sometimes interesting party-abilites keep me from giving it a 2/10)

You need to direct your team to the tiles o nthe otherside of the bridge..two tiles if I remember correct, just use the team command and command each team to each tile.

If it's the boss that shoots fire and with like a ironmaiden-thing floating around him. You're supposed to use the telekenitic guy and jump to one of the corpses above him and then us the telekenitic power to open the "ironmaiden", exposing a corp in there and then shoot at it. This is a mean and nearly impossible boss because he can kill you off with one fireshoot, over that he revive zombies that eat away at you. My fault was that I opened the ironmaiden and blasted away at the fireshooting boss...shoot at the exposed corp insteed, that will do the trick.
Right at the begining of the fight, take control of the one with telekenitic powers (do not remember the name now) then let Black take the fireshooters attention while you teleport up to one of the corps. Open the ironmaiden and shoot away, here you probably will have to revive Black because she's stupied to not take cover. Do that, defend yourself against the zombies while Black take the boss attention again...once you clear the zombies you do the same procedure, teleport, open ironmaiden..shot at what's inside. It took three such a phases before he went down for me and ALOT of tries because he's the hardest boss in the game.

one of my favorite games is FEAR, one of the most linear leveled games of all time. But even that had it's limits and let you go off track and offered a little more to explore. Jericho had a straight up go straight turn left turn right end of level. With a few obsiticals in the way that the enemy or friendly AI hardly ever uses, not too mention the AI in this game is dumber than anything EA has ever coded and the enemies run up on you like a pissed off pregnant wife after you've been out drinking all day making any distant fighting and the sniper rifle worthless.

I disagree. Distant combat was quite good if you didn't just rush through the game. Though I prefered Church and her sword for the most time but many times it was easier to just take out some of the baddies from a distance.
The AI wasn't really good but we shouldn't compare this game to others like FEAR for example. The whole design is different and the devs have been talking about this for a long time. I'm sorry you didn't like the game that much but this is one of those that you either love or hate.

Spoiler: | I just fired away at him and also kill off the flying children...when he uses the "shell" run to the far end off the cathedral and hide behind the altar (coffin?) that will protect you and you won't have to die. Basicly just see to that you have something solid inbetween yourself and the priest when he fire of the shell and you'll be alright. |

Thanks, I've progressed further now, and I am in a very annoying situation.
Spoiler: | I am supposed to stand on three tiles simultasionally, and I've gotten church over to the other side whereas there's only one tile, but I cant get the other jerichos to stand on the other two tiles, cant even access the possession menu. |

Spoiler: | Ah, I think you have the solution in some previous post I wrote..but what you have to do is to order your teammates on the other side to stand on other tiles. You use 1 and 2 key to access the team and just move each over a tile and one of the members will stand on it.
oh..and you need to stand on the one you have on Church side..but I guess you knew that
