The new features video by total training on AE7 shows some funky stuff.
Great looking interface.

Color correction in PP2 also seems interesting..

Can't wait.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compositing (at the bottom)

Combustion has a lot of really high-end siblings. You can also buy packages that do more that just compositing, such as Houdini.

And yeah, Premiere Pro is the ugly girl nobody wants to look at of the NLE world. There are lots of better options out there.

for example...or shake...or maybe even nuke....

instaed of premiere one could use avid...although i think it sucks...people tend to call its name together with professional....oh well. finalcut maybe too.

I've used avid xpress, final cut pro and premiere for editing and my favorite is fcp, with premiere coming second, remember, the more knowledge you have, the humbler you are.

In the "business" end result is everything, ppro 1.5 makes the cut for professional video editor easliy, for film yiu need another set of tools but that's a WHOLE other ball park.
Myself I'm excited to se what ppro2 will bring forth.

Is anyne here employed by framestore cfc or cinesite or other high level fx-firm? if not why the hell would you need stuff like combustion and flame?

Ppro does the job, and that's all that counts...

C* isn't that high-end. Sure, it's not really suitable for My First Home Video, but Flame and C* are in entirely different leagues.

I'm in the same field, the only difference is that I don't study it

As I said, the result is everything, most clients couldn't care less which route you take, be it avid, fcp or ppro, as long as they don't have to pay your training they're happy. Smile

Nonsense. If switching from one NLE to another saves you an hour's worth of wasted time then those workflow improvements are obviously pretty important. Especially if you have any kind of deadline or if you're paid a flatrate fee.

note that you have to get the combined release package to be able to use the integration features (directly nesting AE comps inside premiere etc)
hope the release comes soon

Do you mean that you need the whole Production Studio, or you just need AE 7 Premiere Pro 2 ect, and can be downloaded separately?
