there is a lot of advertisement on tv in germany for the german version of the game. And that makes me suspicious enough not to try it, although it looks great and i loved to play pirates on the c64
How do they finance their servers? Ads? Selling extras for the game?

Both SeaFight and Voyage Century look cool, but I started playing Runescape and I think I'm hooked.
btw. I love most of the pirate games. One of my favorite was Air Buccaneers mod for UT2k4. Too bad not many people are playing it anymore.

Sure. Okay first off it's an amazing well written engine. The game I have running with firefox and I can tab in and out of the game with no wait at all. The graphics are good. Theres loads to do on the game. With plenty of skills such as mining and smelting. Theres also loads of combat skills to learn and sailing skills as well. Theres a couple of bugs but with an early mmorpg that's to be expected. It's free and according to the site it will always be so.
The combat is a tad simplistic for me. Just getting your ship in the right position and clicking the target. But that will change when I get higher skills to use more types of cannon balls.
The map is HUGE. I've been playing a couple of days and only explored a small part of it. Lots of different cities and all of them so far are different, although they really have all the same types of shops in em.
For a free game this is worth getting.

I installed that Voyage Century game on saturday.
Only played for a hour.
Forgot the game yesterday.
Gonna try it more now.
