haven't really paid attention to these type of games, so are there any good recommendations from say.....2004 and on? (nothing too old, cuz some of the older graphics makes me dizzy )
oh yah, i saw the mmo pirates, it looks pretty bad but i was only looking at the graphics, seemed very blocky and choppy but that was a while ago, maybe it's better now, i'll check out the ones you guys mentioned, thanks
Hey Cartoon...I got an acceptance e-mail to that Pirates of the Burning Seas beta. But, whenever I go to the link provided, it gives me shit about not being logged in (even after I've logged into the message boards multiple times). I've cleared cookies and temp, tried both in IE and Firefox, yet still it gives me the same shit.
E-mailed tech multiple times and the bastards never bothered to respond.
Me be angry

Voyage Century is quite nice, especially the fighting engine is pretty good.
Played it for quite a while a bit long ago, we even had a guild run by our Jenny, but due to inactivity of some of the members(me included), the guild kinda fell apart. But it's a very good game, with strong ingame economy(you can build absolutely everything yourself)
I also like the Pirates of The Caribbean with the build mod installed. Currently the build 13 is the most stable one. Very very huge scope for an offline game, with a humongous number of things you can do ingame
I had tried VCO and I thought the PVP was crap. Getting out of your ship to chop down trees and mine made it a treadmill like most MMORPGs.
World of Pirates is basically a remake of the original Sid Meier's Pirates! from Microprose, in an online environment with PVP. The PVP is really what makes this game great. You can team up with 5 other fleets from your nation and go out hunting unsuspecting player ships.
Well yes, whatever.
Been playing Tales of Monkey Island, after that I started playing Tropico 2 again while listening to Alestorm
So, I need a good pirate game. Nothing of that fanzy shmanzy mmo stuff. Good ol' singleplayer games.
If all fails I can still go back to playing Sid Meier's Pirates
Community, I implore you, recommend away!
How does Sea Dogs 2... erm... I mean Pirates Of the Caribbean fare against it's predecessor?
And are there any mods for Sea Dogs? I'm not a gfx whore but somehow that game makes my eyes hurt :/
Slightly off-topic but every time I try Empire:TW I think of how cool they could've made a pirate game with that engine. Needs a bit tweaking though as you need it more 'down-on-the-deck' first-person sort of, and you want smaller engagements of course.

WOP is a piece of shit. I beta tested it years ago and they turned a okay game into a pile of crap. I had a friend that decided to stick with the game for quite sometime and it just got worse and worse. Last I heard the community is basically dead.
