Awesome news! I just hope they release the 8800GTX (and other G80) drivers that support PhysX soon...

Edit: Hmm, maybe beta drivers are already out, nice! Razz

Now we just have to wait for this ATi/nVidia deal to go through so that Radeon owners can use PhysX too.

All capable 8, 9, GTX series. Basically, anything CUDA-enabled. That includes the G92 8800GT.

G92 cards were enabled long time ago, at least 3 weeks.

Are you sure? The last time I checked nVidia's PhysX stuff .. they stated, quite specifically, that the only supported cards were the 9800 and GTX series.

It even says so here;

There is a newer PhysX driver.

177.79 + PhysX 8.07.18 driver = Joy.

Where is that? I couldn't even find the download link for the ORIGINAL software on nVidia's site. That link above came from Google searching, lol.

Neither of those you linked to mentioned PhysX on G92 or G80 cards :-\

And that pic is taken from a G92-revision 8800? Cool, I didn't know that - I was merely going by what nVidia stated was "compatible"

No, it's taken on my G80 8800GTX. G92 cards were supported weeks ago (inc. 8600GT(new S), 8800GT, 9x00, etc).

Nice! Well, as I said, I didn't know since I was taking my info from nVidia's "compatible cards" list. Thanks for the update .................. now if only NGOHQ would hurry up and release their CUDA-enabled PhysX software for Radeon cards, I'd be a happy gamer.

9600 is a D9M card, so if you have more than 256MB of vram, you can enable it. However, the 9600 is slow, and the Ageia card will probably give you better performance.

IMO, it's always better to keep a dedicated accelerator than a pseudo one. I know the new nVidia card supports PhysX via CUDA .. but it's still not going to be as effective as a dedicated card.

the dedicated card doesn't help over anything especially on a stock cooler, these things get fuckin hotter than a video card for doing almost nothing.

The thing is, it DOES so something. It's dedicated soley to the function of running PhysX. nVidia GPUs have to split the task between accelerating PhysX and powering the game in question.

Various drivers and demos. Smile
(Drivers include the latest 8.08.1 PhysX drivers as well.)

EDIT: Had to unpack the drivers to get the PhysX drivers, works just fine (I use one of those Ageia cards.) don't have any of the extras to test it with though but the main point of these is to add and improve PhysX for NVIDIA cards. Smile
(Wouldn't surprise me if the dedicated AGEIA cards would be discontinued soon.)

EDIT: Kulu demo works fine, not the best performance and torturing worms might not be that fun but it's nice to see it react realistic to electric shocks.

*sigh* It looks like, with nVidia backing/owning PhyX now, that we're going to see a lot more PhysX-enabled titles. I just hope NGOHQ hurry up with their Radeon Cuda port.

Yeah, turns out any g80 (and upwards) GeForce card has now got full PhysX support thanks to nVidia acquiring the technology and porting/adapting it to their CUDA system.

What was the name of that multiplayer fps game which was freely downloadable for everybody, but only ageia physx card owners could play all the levels.

It had guns and psychic powers if i remember right.

CellFactor .. and damn you nVidia owners!! I always wanted to play that, but being locked to 4 bots and only 2 maps without a PhysX card really sucked.

Oh and it ran like shite too.
