  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

Over a thousand years ago, in a world much, much different than ours- a world where creatures that only our imagination create roamed the wild and the tamed lands. A place where Man lived, and Elf, Dwarf and Orc. A place where magic flows in the air, where hidden and forgotten civilizations return to life and where Dragons roam the skys. It is a place that like everyother, has those who live in it who seek peace, and those who seek to make war. Those who seek to make allies of their neighbors and those who seek to conquer and smash. The choices that effect an entire world lye in your hands. The power to create, conquer, establish and rule a powerful city. The power to take a fledgling nation and through truth and justice or treachery and power- conquer the world. The decisions that will make a world or break it, are in your hands.

Heh, well the fantasy market is increasing rapidly so I agree with you on that part, though I can't think of much else to say for now, haven't heard much about this particular game, interesting to try and mix MMO elements into it but we'll see how it turns out as development gets closer to a more finished state.

A beta test or likewise might be useful as well, reviews these days tend to go to platform exclusive magazines more for hype and marketing than meaningful ratings and comments/opinions, similar with most official videos and previews though it is a multi-million dollar business by now compared to some years ago.
(Also more sociable and mass marketed games today which leads to this "derping" or dumbing down in favor of easy money and generic gameplay at worst, sort-of, DLC can at times take things even lower though I'm not saying DLC itself are problematic, content and amount along with cost is important factors.)

Perhaps something like Obsidian along with Bethesda with the Rage/Tech-5 engine on a project like Arcanum re-imagination (Not quite a far as with Fallout -> Fallout 3 if possible though.) or such, Alpha Protocol had a lot of promise though as with Electron (NWN2) there was a number of flaws so a well implemented engine to start with might give great results. Very Happy

EDIT: Oh wait, Alpha Protocol was UE3, one of the "best" engines available.
(Depending on how it's used, it seems only Epic themselves are amongst the only ones to actually take full advantage of it though projects like Mirrors Edge show that it's pretty versatile whereas stuff like Damnation gets a ton of technical issues or Dark Void gets clunky controls and so on.)

EDIT: That Gamebryo / Emmisive (Or what it's name was, TES 5 build.) could work as well but it's a bit dated, Rage / Tech 5 does use levels but that does work in such a project compared to fully open environments and you have these set locations instead and a world map for travel trough game locations, can still have open big areas and cities full of detail that way and then on the world map numerous random encounters and locations to visit so it would work even with that "limit".
(Same goes for Cry-Engine 3 though.)

Metacritic is not valid anymore for this game. On the Steam forums they say, the game got much better with the latest patches.
