http://www.hawkengame.com/

What type of game is Hawken?
Hawken is a multiplayer mech combat game. The focus is on creating an intense and enjoyable battle experience that captures the feeling of piloting a heavy war machine while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic.

What game modes are supported?
We have two unique team game modes, as well as team deathmatch and free-for-all deathmatch.

When will it be released?
When it’s done. We’re not done yet, but development is going well and we should have more announcements soon.

What engine are you using?
Hawken has been developed using the Unreal Engine from Epic Games.

What platform is it for?
This is unknown at this point. We are interested in bringing Hawken to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

How much will it cost?
We don’t know yet, but our plan is for Hawken to be a downloadable title that will have a relatively low cost compared to boxed games.

Read the description and went 'Meh'. Watched the video and went 'Holy Shit'. That looks amazing, absolutely love the art style and the movement of the mechs seem fast and fluid. Cockpit view at the end of the vid was very impressive too.

I think that was an attempt to convey 'hand-held shaky-cam' that hollywood loves so much, in an attempt to add a litte drama to the footage. Uneccessary imo.

The movement of the mechs looks jerky because that was probably already working netcode and they just need smoothing of it:)

Looks good but the mechs look like they are made of paper (They lift off to quick from ground and movement is 'itchy'). For the rest, keep tweaking since it really looks great (Would be nice to have destructable enviroments too, but since its UE3, I doubt it).

This breathtaking footage is from Hawken, a first-person multiplayer mech game that’s being developed by an indie studio of 9 people, including the talented artist Khang Le (whom you may remember as part of the ill-fated Project Offset). Adhesive Games is using UDK to create the game, which will feature multiple team-based modes as well as a free-for-all deathmatch mode. There’s no word yet on release date or platform, but they’re targeting downloadable services for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Maybe because this is some sort of alpha version?

That looks effin awesome for a Indie dev game. Love how Indie devs are showing to the big guys how things should be done.

One thing i dont like is that sort of mech game. I like Mech commander and Mechwarrior type where the mechs feel like proper mechs. These mechs slide around and jump around like they are living creatures. I like the "real" feel to the mechs where they stumble around and dont make turns as rapidly. You know what i mean.

9 months of development doesn't mean early alpha, beside alpha can be anywhere from years to a month before release.

You're saying 9 months is a long time to be in alpha? When their studio consists of under 10 people?

+1

I'd LOVE to play this as a single-player game in the vein of Shogo with that kind of graphics.
