STARFORCE NIGHTMARE Very Happy Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil

http://starf.bestmedia.kiev.ua/new2downeng.htm

This tool lets you deactivate CDRom drives in your system. Actually it supports
not just deactivating of all drives on IDE channel, like starfuck it do, but even a
cd drive separately. Also the combination of hard drive and cd drive on the same channel
would be possible too.
This program is the technical further stage of starfuck project. The project starfuck
had to be freezed for undefined time because our development team has changed.
Before using this program keep in mind: all what you do, you do on your own risk.
Be carefull, if you are using it: not all features will work for every one, it depends
on your hardware and software combination.

From the makers of the wonderfull tool StarFuck

DIE STARFORCE DIE! =)

Just try the "Disabel CD" option and when i go in "my computer" the drives are gone and when i click on "Enable CD" they come back up.

So it seems to work fine for me. Here's a screenshot of the options.

When you go to www.project-starfuck.tk (orginal StarFuck project site), you will see redesigned website about 1.0 version of StarForce Nightmare.
So for me it looks that SFNM is final version of StarFuck (couple of days ago there was announcement about new version coming in 02.2005).

Yesterday, I already posted readme of SFNM in StarFuck thread

Just tried Soldiers HoWW2.
Started SFNM, disabled Primary channel (with my both CDRW drivers), waited till it ends "processing", then mounted mini-image with daemon tools, started the game and it works :]

Enabling previously disabled channel also works, drivers were again visible in My computer.

There are two ways:
1) Open your computer case, find 2 ide connectors on motherboard, check to which of them you have your cd/dvdrom connected
2) Go into BIOS, and check in "Standard CMOS Features", there should be nice table with info about what is master/slave on which channel (sth like this)

Dunno how to check this under windows.

I have a DVD drive and my HDD on the first IDE channel and a DVD burner on my secondary IDE channel - that's why Starfuck was useless for me (because it could only disable whole IDE channels). I've read the description of StarForce Nightmare and it seems this "Disable CD/Enable CD" option is exactly what people like me needed. So did anyone with a similar setup (optical disc drives on both IDE channels) try it yet? Is Starforce Nightmare really able to disable only optical drives on both IDE channels without disabling the HDD on the same channel? Is there any risk? I don't want to disable my HDD and render my computer useless or something....
When you reboot are all drives back automatically or do you still have to enable them again?

That's not true. The version of Starf*ck that I'm using has disable cd options (primary or secondary..normal or aggressive) as well as disable ide options.

I have a hd on my secondary ide channel along with with my dvd burner so I use the secondary_all_cd.bat and it's worked fine with all Starforce games I've tried to date.

However, I don't know whether Starforce Nightmare or Starf*ck will allow you to disable the cds on both ide channels at the same time but I would reckon that if Starforce Nightmare does then so would Starf*ck.

Why not have both dvd drives on your secondary ide?

SFNM readme wrote:

- "Disable CD" // this button lets disable installed ATAPI CDROMs on built-in ATA controller automatically
(...)
- "Pr.Master Off" // this button lets disable one installed drive in master position on Primary Channel
- "Pr.Slave Off" // this button lets disable one installed drive in slave position on Primary Channel
- "Sc.Master Off" // this button lets disable one installed drive in master position on Secondary Channel
- "Sc.Slave Off" // this button lets disable one installed drive in slave position on Secondary Channel
(...)
- "Pr.M-Sc.M Off" // this button lets disable two installed drives in both master positions on Primary and Secondary Channel
- "Pr.M-Sc.S Off" // this button lets disable two installed drives in master position on Primary Channel and in slave position on Secondary Channel
- "Pr.S-Sc.M Off" // this button lets disable two installed drives in slave position on Primary Channel and in master position on Secondary Channel
- "Pr.S-Sc.S Off" // this button lets disable two installed drives in both slave positions on Primary and Secondary Channel

Looks like they implemented all possible configurations.
So SFNM can do what you want, but you must try and check it yourself...

i had a lot of crashes after changing my mouse recently and after bios updating and checking other stuff, i had a crash at startup in the starforce driver which i didnt even know was installed (i dont have an original with sf3 and the cracked games usually dont install it afaik). Since removing it everything works fine, xp seems to boot up faster and i havent had a bsod again. I officially hate sf3 now, whereas i only strongly disliked it before... die sf, die!
