Not A Hero - the first indie cover-based shooter presented in ISO-Slant™ for PC and next-gen consoles. Featuring a smorgasbord of running, gunning and sliding action, Not A Hero is a 2¼D cover-based shooter that has absolutely no qualms with handing you your own ass the minute you peek out from cover this summer.
When an anthropomorphic rabbit/mayoral candidate from the future named BunnyLord needs a murderous loner to clean up the city during the election, Steve heroically offers up his dubious skills with a gun and lack of self-preservation instinct to this mysterious stranger from beyond. Now Steve must clear five districts of crime and recruit new heroes for his cause by sliding, diving, ducking, and taking cover through hundreds of full-throttle shootouts across the city. He'll be joined by characters like the shotgun-wielding Cletus, and Jesus, who can shoot while sliding, but has no execution move. Other characters named by Roll7 include Stabatha Christie and White Lotus, who trade firearms for a knife and katana, respectively. Another gunman, Shush, who's armed with a silencer will provide a stealthier player option. Through the power of ISO-Slant™ technology and a wasted youth, London-based developer Roll7 (OlliOlli) delivers the greatest 2¼D cover-based indie shooter of all time ever.
“The Roll7 team was less than enthused about partnering with a publisher of questionable morals and hygiene but through a series of legal maneuvers and old fashioned black magic here we are – stuck with Devolver Digital,” noted Roll7 creative director, John Ribbins.
Not A Hero is powered by ISO-Slant™, a new proprietary technology that allows game developers to reach the sweet spot between 2D and 2½D perspectives with minimal effort. Through the liberal, almost irresponsible use of ISO-Slant™, Not A Hero developer Roll7 is able to radically alter the standard 2D pixel art action game into an unbelievable 2¼D visual tour de force and creates a unique new genre sure to entertain for years to come.
Not A Hero will be hitting PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam and next-gen consoles in Fall 2014

It's a crappy situation all around, but it's now been mitigated somewhat by Not a Hero developer Roll7. "So, along with everyone and their mum—Roll7 read the Eurogamer article about Bryan Henderson. We kinda felt his pain—and asked BunnyLord what he would do in this situation," the studio wrote in a blog post. "His answer (selected from Not A Hero’s random text generator)? 'Make Bryan a God in Not A Hero and give him 1% of OlliOlli sales to date, oh and massage a wombat.'"
Nigel Lowrie of Not a Hero publisher Devolver Digital told Polygon that the Curiosity/Godus mess reflects poorly on the industry as a whole, and so it reached out to Roll7 with the idea of adding him to their game instead. The studio was sympathetic and "immediately said they'd do it." Henderson won't actually be a god, nor will he be playable, at least at launch, but he will wield some pretty impressive powers, as seen in the trailer the studio made to announce his inclusion.
"The world of Not A Hero is a godless place, that much is certain, but the next best thing is BunnyLord—an anthropomorphic rabbit from the future running for mayor," Lowrie said. "Roll7 is going to put Bryan in the sort of employees lounge where BunnyLord stashes his heroes/henchmen as an NPC. It's not exactly becoming a god but it's the best we could do." The offer of a one percent cut of OlliOlli sales, sadly for Henderson, was made in jest, and I'm just going to assume that a wombat massage isn't actually in the cards.
London, UK – Political pundits Roll7 and Devolver Digital announced today that the upcoming politically charged, cover-based shooter Not a Hero has undergone super secret upgrades to crank that shit up to 60 frames per second and will now launch on May 14 via Steam, GOG, and Humble (http://www.notahe.ro).
Not A Hero’s short but life-changing seven-day delay marks additional time for tweaking and testing the most recent tech update to the game, which brought the action from a dull and dreary 30fps to a pants tingling 60fps. It’s like the game is licking your eyeballs now.
“Throughout the rigorous beta testing phase of Not A Hero, the most consistent feedback was to increase the frame rate to 59 frames per second,” said Simon Bennett, producer at Roll7. “Well, we went a step further and took Not A Hero up to 60 frames per second. You’re welcome.”
The above comparison picture is of them pressing a button right?
(It looked a little bit different when I first glanced over the image but then I saw the little red button.)
This is GREAT STUFF! I freakin' love it when developers actually listen to their audience, rather than trotting out defences about how there's no difference (yes, I'm looking at you Mr Ronin Dev, thankyouverymuch) - playing this at 60 will be much more fun, 30 funs more in fact
The ME, MYSELF & BUNNYLORD Campaign lets you play as the BunnyLord himself! Use unreasonable force reasonably to fix his space-time-continuum mishaps and restore balance to the universe in this new adventure featuring 3 all new missions, with new baddies, settings and challenges.
