I use Gentoo, compiler heaven.
Please avoid Ubuntu. It is the plague of Linux distros. Upgrades break drivers randomly, bug priorities not where they should be, etc etc.

I use Linux so I use gcc with vim, nano and/or Kate. IDEs are big, complicated and pointless. Learn to make Makefiles yourself.
On Windows, I use mingw + MSYS. |

| Agreed, use something GOOD for Antivirus. If you want to stick with Symantec, use the corporate Symantec AntiVirus, it's Norton without retardedness. But now I prefer NOD32 or Avast. |
