Patches can be ripped pretty easily but a new crack would be needed for it to work properly so you're somewhat right.

I've JUST PLAYED IT ONLINE! Online play works PERFECTLY. You don't need Steam, ever, you only need a Gamespy account.

Multiplayer still works for most ripped Steam titles albeit not on "official" or retail-version servers, probably doesn't mean much in this game though.

Any info on how the multiplayer campaign will be handled? The only way I can see it work is if the battles are auto-resolve only, I could be wrong though.
