It all comes down to the SATA itself.

Most chipset-integrated SATA devices is IDE compatible, meaning they will work as any IDE device when it comes to drivers/detection/installing windows.

Yup, unless your ide dvdrom/rw are connected to sata controller.
oh damn. is there a way to find out if my dvd master is connected to sata or ide controller without opening the case? thanks. Smile

one quick question... if you only have one HD with sata controller, do you still have to physically unplug your ide cdrom/dvdrom to run SF protected games?
