oh jesus i suck at drifting ..
i tried on fucking EASY with all aids and still suck horribly, i'm the last to finish , the 1st having more than twice my score . and i'm talking about the 1st drift , with the 350z .
tried it with the ebrake and spun out , tried taking wide turns tapping the breaks and halted .
the mistake .. well if aint really a mistake since it's intentional , i only one car , currently a Murcielago but i need a bit of cash for the Zonda , it pisses me off that i need eurospec , japanspec and shit like that for certain races.

I only had that with that gay US faggot car battle. I let him pass me right at the start, and return the favour by hitting him fullspeed on the first turn. 5 sec difference... in 5 seconds.
I'm playing this game on the mode-before-pro, but sometimes the Ai is just rediculous. But hey, if you gotta be lamer then the Ai, fine!

What is the Speed Steering sensitivity option? Does it affect a 360 controller or is this for wheel control only?

It affect both. It lowers sensitivity depending on how fast you go. Try it with 100% and 0% on Spa in Eau Rogue and you'll see the difference.

I play with the hud off, I remember seeing them, but they should be ABS, Stability Control and Traction Control.

Right, I officially give up. I have updated Direct X, re-installed both latest Phys-X and used the ones of the disc, tried earlier drivers, messed with the videos, pretty much every fix I've found has not worked.
I'll wait for a patch.

OK, messed up a bit and bad news first. No left/right look with any device :/ Tried with wheel, keyboard and mouse, couldn't get the head move a bit.

Good news is that this was possible and also added wheel spin vibration, that is missing somehow on the wheel defaults.
Here's link to one wheel preset that has the tweaks (and also the failures of the look, if it would help someone to make it work).

It goes to (in Vista) X:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed SHIFT\ControllerDefaults\PC
Make a copy of the vehicleset_pc_fanatec_porsche911turbo_gated.xml as it'll be replaced. Goes to preset 0 and the name of the wheel is INVALID 
Has my wheel settings along with sensitivity settings in it. Modify to suit, haven't tested if you edit the button mappings, if the tweaks stay, probably.
Buttons:
1=downshift
2=upshift
3=handbrake
4=nos
5=look left/right, but doesn't work
6=camera
Oh and don't see grass/gravel force stuff in the presets, they seem low too. If someone knows the right name, do tell.

It either black-screens straight after the first loading bar or it will let me do one race, give me the awards and crash on the next loading screen.

Ok looks like the guy who wrote the ffb guide ( http://www.race2play.com/homepage/show_posts/7229 ) for previous Simbin titles modified the fbb for Shift too
EDIT: reuploaded: vehicleset_pc_custom_wheel.zip
unzip it in ControllerDefaults\PC, choose the "custom wheel" profile in game, remap your controls, play, give feedback

That requires registration. Anyway, isn't there a way to modify my existing controls/settings (I'm using gamepad) for better ffb ? I don't want to select another profile ... boo !

I got my PS3 joystick working, finaly -- however, when I steer it feels like I still am tapping the button like its ON and OFF, instead of incremental, same with the gas and brakes.
Is there a way to fix this? Or does anyone know of a joypad for the PC that does support this?
It's kinda gay going like steering on and off instead of gently making small steering movements.

Yup, sounds like we've got the exact same problem. Hope someone finds a solution. Last racing game I really enjoyed was GRID, and that's too long ago...

My 360 pad worked fine with GRID, steering incrementally or giving it just a touch of extra gas/brake. Guessing that would apply to other games as well.

Wtf, this game doesn't have lan play, me and my friend created hamachi network for game, connected to teamspeak, launched the game, and lol, no option for lan...racing game without lan, wtf???

For those getting the 'Black Screen' crash, try this graphics config, courtesy EA forums.
Just copy and paste over the GraphicsConfig.xml in your My Documents folder. The good news is, I've just been playing for half an hour without a crash. I haven't changed any of the settings whilst in-game though, so if anyone does and it stays stable, let us know.
Edit to add: I changed the resolution to 1280x1024 instead of 720 without a problem, it still worked.
