Right,

so i've collected on quite alot of pdf/mp3/pictures etc etc on my hard drives...and now I'd like to sort them once again. But I could need some help as we're talking about 100's of thousands of files.

Can anyone suggest a program that checks for doubles?

for images i've used picture relate which did a great job on finding duplicates and similair images
but i'm sure there's a lot of free alternatives out there

i don't know if there is any software for finding duplicate music, other than if it's byte-identical
easiest i think would be to do a search on a file type and sort by file size and two identical files would be the ones with the same file size (but you should check.. coincidences happen)

Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools

If you scroll down you will see a list of all the tools, one of which is dupfinder. Looks like a collection of tools MS chose to name "Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools "

Yeah I saw that - but if I download that one, will it unpack all the files for me so I can select the specific one I want?
