6 hours on console => ~4 hours on PC for a moderately skilled player
With the heavily scripted nature of the CoD sp campaigns, I wouldn't be sure. The problem is not the length, the problem is the story itself, which is like something borrowed from a D movie, add that to the boring subpar shooting mechanics, that CoD games come with, and all you really have is 4 hours of your life, which would have been better spent getting drunk and not remembering anything. IMHO, of course.
i love the call of duty campaigns, i love them BECAUSE they are movie like, action filled, has a story and a plot, everything a single player game should be. Should NOT be battlefield sit behind cover shoot go back repeat.

No, that's what a movie should be for people with very low standards, aka the majority, not for gamers. Playing a movie is awful, i can't really understand what is so great about being a puppet.

Glad to see you can just say "No"
And everything i say is wrong, so in response to you.
No, playing a movie is great, metal gear solid is the epitome of single player campaign experiences.

A game should give you a world, a small set of rules and set you free. It should be very different from a movie that usually takes you for a ride and you have no say in it. You can still have your story, characters, etc, but the way the story unfolds should be mandated by you, at your own pace and without hand holding.
Of course that's not what happens in these games. It's just a straight corridor put together by gameplay invasive cutscenes, with horrible b-flick action sequences and retarded qte's. You have no say in it, there's only one path and it's the same for everyone. It's just an interactive movie.

So you basically want GTA: MW3?
No, i want them to be like they were before this visceral movie like crap started to show up. If i wanted to watch crappy movies and get a brain cancer i wouldn't be playing games.

I see where you're coming from, but to be fair, not all games can or should be based around an open world scenario. It simply wouldn't work for war games, where by definition, you are in an army and are given specific orders to complete.
I don't think we're technically at a level where you could create 'Sim War', where you could perhaps set the parameters of a war (timeframe, sides, etc) and then off you go.
Story-based games have been around since the days of Donkey Kong, and no matter how many open-ended games come out, there will always be games with a story that has a script and an ending.
To be honest, COD games have and most likely will always continue to be scripted story games. And no-one is forcing you or anyone else to play it.

You're getting it wrong. I'm not talking about sandbox here and to prove you that, Half-Life 2 is probably the best game I ever played. But please don't tell me they're the same. There are huge design gaps between them.
One thing that game designers usually get wrong is cut-scenes. They are hideous. I wanna play my game not watch it. And now they even made it worse, by forcing you to press a key during the cutscene or else you fail. QTE's are a fucking cancer in gaming and they need to go away. It's bad game design, no buts.
Valve on the other hand got it right. It's all in game and you control your character all the time. They use smart environment architecture, audio cues, and characters that actually interact with you to "force" you to be filled on the story. You could go way if you want but you don't 'cause you wanna stay and follow them to hear what they wanna say.
There's also brilliant level design in half-life 2, something you cannot say about recent cod/bf gameplay that relies on cheap cliché explosions and fake b-movie settings. And the characters are human in HL2, they could be your mother ,your girlfriend or your best friend, they're not taken from the hollywood blockbuster cliché closet A.
