This game could be even better if they made the squad/party/platoon join work properly. They did already improve this, so when you join on someone at the start of the game, more often the not you will end up in the same squad as long there is not too many of you.
And it's understandable that you can't shove 8 people on the same side without unbalancing the teams, but the game could rearrange the teams at the beginning of the next round and put the party/platoon on the same side. Otherwise it's a shame to waste half the game time "warming up", trying to find an opening to switch teams and then, finally, the "proper" game begins.
Not that I mind shooting fellow Humpers in the face from time to time, but I'd like to have a choice in the matter
Can someone please explain how you get the names to look like that in the video in all different colors? It looks nothing like that in my kill-box. I like how it looks here better.
Question 2. Can you give me some good tips on how to get rid of Javelin if you are laser targeted and it's been fired? Flares don't work do they? Is only hope ECM jammer before anyone can look on with SOFLAM?

Once it's been fired, your only choice is to put as much cover as possible between you and the missile. If you are out in the open, you are pretty much screwed. Sometimes you catch a break and the Javelin misses you just barely and starts flying circles around you. I suppose you can just slightly increase the odds by pulling a sharp turn at the right time. Flares most definitely do not work if you have been designated, now they sometimes even fail against the usual heat seekers.
All that is often irrelevant, since almost every time it happens you won't actually get any warning at all that a Javelin has been fired, is incoming or is even trying to get a lock on you. If you get lucky, you will actually see the launch, but even then, there isn't that much time to do anything, especially if you barely have any speed. I suppose ECM can buy you some time to try and get away (if it actually prevents the lasers from designating you... does it?), but I don't think it helps if the missile has already been fired.
Best approach is a preemptive strike on the spotters. Seek out the SOFLAMs and stay out of their LoS and take them out the first chance you get... preferably from their blind spot. Having a few people on comms helping you with this improves the odds of success
At least the big BF2 maps offered an actual playable area. In BF3 you can indeed fly way off from the battlefield, into the nice and useless background scenery, but there is jack shit to be found.
Kind of a pointless rant when you consider most everyone is on the objectives and not wanking about in the wilderness anyway. You can still dogfight out there which is what is intended.
I can't even believe we are still talking about the size of these maps. Its not ARMA II (which I love by the way) and its not MW23456. Its Battelfield and they are just about perfect in my opinion. Focused and not laboriously large. I don't want to spend 30 minutes driving a tank to an objective just to have some jackass ram a plane into me at mach3.

Thanks for elaborate post, that's what I thought. It is a bummer you don't get a warning when a Jav is tracking you, how are you supposed to be able to counter it... ¨
Guess staying low and flying very close to terrain is your best option and hope it crashes into the ground/house/vegitation. Also, is there any way to know if it is a SOFLAM that has targeted you or if it is just "regular" targeting?
Also, Stungravy - the guy that made the A-team Rendezook video has some amusing other videos. Love this one and the top comment is spot on. Music goes so well with the footage!
it was crap BECAUSE it was simply "race of the jeep cappers" and nothing else.
yeah, people forget so fast .... conquest on vanilla bf maps was boring crap.
Conquest in bf3 is way WAY better, now its actually possible to reach flags on foot in time and not seeing 2 jeeps circle them ,capping/recapping them, while you on foot, in a tank etc werent of much use (some maps it was less like that, but most it was).
Thankfully the situation isn't that problematic, the game still suffers of some minor issues but overall I haven't encountered any terrifying bug (BC2 on the other hand was definitely a lot more "unpolished", especially in the first months )

Minor issues.
For many of us they're really minor now after the patches. Sorry to know they're kind of major for you

It's a lot less buggy than any other BF game already. That's actually better than I expected. Like said before they could optimize netcode a little bit and do some balancing things but otherwise it's great the way it is.

well i was hoping below radar would help with the soflam locking, but it doesnt. even with stealth on i feel like it only takes a couple seconds for soflam to lock a heli. im guessing this is more realistic but damn it makes flying a chopper hard

Believe me, with practice (and a decent gunner)you can manage to stay flying for more than 2 minutes against SOFLAMs and Stinger/IGLA. Right now the deadliest foes for a chopper are enemy jets, if the jet pilots are decent they can take you down really easy. I'm afraid the jet main cannon was overbuffed against other flying vehicles in the last patch.
That's the reason why attack helicopters rape so much in Sharqi (no jets).

Defo,
I was gunner for a full 20m match on Sharqi, the pilot "1nd1v1d" was amazing to say the least.
Even without comms, he was able to orient himself to the targets i was firing at.
We finished 44-0/43-0 and were only hit once.
At most points we were 6ft off the ground unless a tank appeared and then we'd pop up and slap it down.
Very very good round (apart from the game crash at the end!)
Seems to me that javelins are just crazy against choppers. Once I've gotten mine away towards a chopper I don't think I've ever missed. And as a pilot you don't hear it approaching either. Hmmm...
