So much better then the first. This is the first time in over a decade I play a game like I used to as a kid playing it as a sandbox just enjoying the world. It's so immersive.
Only downside is that i can't help myself exploiting the mechanics. I have killed countless sheep to boost stats. And mid-late game balance is non existent. Seems they have only balanced to first 10 hours or just did the main quest without extra's.
I don't think that balancing will be enough. There's no variety to enemies, once you figure how it goes, all fights end the same. A common issue with practically all open world game, but still. They will need to give enemies more attack options, or redo underlying rpg engine. I don't think that there's a point in doing that, it'd be better to focus on the sequel.
I think the devs don't care about the balance and consider this a roleplaying experience and that you should create your own fun with the tools the game give. It's not a game that is supposed to be challenging. And part of the role playing experience they envision is that you start out very weak and the game is hard, but the late game balance doesn't matter for the devs. That's also the point of the drinking skill for instance. They give you the option to play the game as a drunk, if that is what you are going for. And wisdom. Wanne be dum Henry or smart Henry. The devs don't actually care if you only focus about getting stronger and becomming OP in the proces. It's not about the chalange for them but it's the roleplaying that matters.
Mid-late game can be easily fixed if they wanted to. Adding difficulty settings would be enough. Or some level scaling. I think the game would benefit from this.
But for those that want a more difficult game, i guess there are plenty of mods to fix this?
Ready to suffer? Good. Hardcore Mode lands in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II on April 15.
This isn’t just a difficulty spike—it’s a whole new way to play. Your position is no longer shown on the map, fast travel is gone, and the compass? Useless. You’ll need to navigate the world by sight and local gossip alone.
At the start, you’ll pick at least three negative perks to carry for your entire journey. It’s not just harder. It’s more immersive, more brutal, and more Bohemia. Whether you’re chasing a challenge or looking for a new way to lose yourself in 15th-century Europe, Hardcore Mode is your next test. Ready?
