Install goes fine, burn the first cd to get around the no software drive emu. Run the program and it just sticks at the load screen.
1.7 p4
640 ram
geforce2
latest drivers across the board.
Anyone having similar problems?

It works with Alcohol 120% my friend. Try it there and if the problem persists, it could be your system.
I'd go with the virtual drive just to check.

hmm I've seen this before, I've been through a similar problem, so far I constantly see about three types of problems with loading the CLONE release. I'm getting the new RELOADED release ATM, hopefully I'll have better luck, installing and uninstalling an almost 3 gig game w/4cds over and over and tinkering with settings kinda gets old after a while.

From another forum addressing the error True Crime gives when trying to start it:
Quote: | actually, it is the processor. I can't get the game working on my 1400MHz athlon. i have even over clocked above 1500MHz and it still doesn't work. My understanding is as follows...
From 1500MHz and above, AMD introduced their XP line of processors with a whole new architecture, obviously the game has a bug that prevents it from running on the old pre XP processors. I reckon activision know this because as u will notice 1500MHz is the min processor requirement for an amd, while it is only 800MHz for PIII. a 1400Mhz processor (or any athlon for that matter) is many times faster than a 800MHz PIII which leads me to the conclusion that the reason why the requirements for AMD processors are so high is because activision could not get the game working on them (hopefully there will be a patch or someone will find a fix) rather than the fact that the game will run too slow (because it wont). |
Makes sense, unless someone with an AMD processor lower than 1.5Ghz has played it?

I also have an Athlon 1.4 and the RELOADED version doesn't work. Get an error when I try to start it up.

Same here. I was wondering about those minimum specs already too.

aww crap... yea I have a 1.2ghz Athlon :unhappy face: that could explain it. I'd wish I'd known that sooner.
I guess I downloaded the RELOADED release for almost nothing, hope a patch or fix comes out soon. Gee I had hoped a new True Crime release would do the trick and now it finally seems we find out the true cause. Oh well guess more waiting will have to do. I'm installing the RELOADED release at the moment, not sure if I should bother continuing it. Sigh.

HI! I think I have a special problem with the game. I downloaded three times the second CD, and every time when the installation reaches the second Cd It screens a note that "/Cine.cab cannot found please specify a new place................" and I have abort, and retry buttons... I haved ownloaded it from private Ftp so It couldn't be wrong... I don't know what to do to get it installed.I have tried both the reloaded and the clone Cd version, and no one had worked. Have anyone met this problem? Thanks for your further help!

My friend had the *.exe crash porblem with The Suffering and True crime. We managed with that problem !!
The problem is about SSE instructions on Athlons. On same motherboards they are disabled and that games need them to run. To check if you have SSE instructions enabled use WCPUID. If you have them disabled, the way we manged to enable them, was updating the BIOS. I will work ONLY with that CPUs:
AthlonXP (palimino & above)
Duron (morgan & above)
because only them have SSE support.
