any critical or life and death contacts have my landline or know where I live.
I'm also staying away from booze and weed.

Let's see how long I keep this up I'm aiming for a month without phone and (hopefully) forever without the booze.

I'm always baffled when people make it sound like not using your phone is an achievement.
But...I barely use mine so I can't grasp what's so important/addictive to begin with.

So, good on you for dropping bad habits that went out of control. First thing: don't make them so important in your head. That would win you half the battle already.

Same here. People seem to value it as a lifeline of some sort.

People go around here with 2 of them stuck to their faces, literally. It's not the 'phone' though, it's the disease that is 'social media' on it, the utter turd shit crap that is Facebook, What's App, Twitter etc. All should be wiped off the face of the planet. Let's get back to communicating with our mouths, and eye to eye contact..

I'll explain the phone thing: I know a lot of degenerates and damaged women Laughing
Part of cutting off a habit is cutting off the social circles that enable it. I'm pushing 30 here as a 29yo so I really gotta get my shit together. And I'm getting tired of waking up not remembering anything and relying on others to tell me what happened as if someone else was behind the wheel in my noggins. And being shocked like "I would never fucking do that" It's actually kinda scary. This is mostly due to the liquor which I found over the years to be far more dangerous than weed yet the latter is illegal in most places while booze isn't.

So turning off my phone is a hardware lock away from anyway I could be reached with by this toxic garbage as I really need to clear my head and fix my long ignored problems.

Know what? To be honest I've never felt at peace like I have lately with it off. I can focus on my work and enjoy shows or games in peace without dealing with anyone's drama or getting dragged into some gathering of absolute chaos.
So far I'd say I don't miss it at all. Ofc you get that "check notifications" reflex but I have the phone far enough away from me to make me think twice.

Which is why, me and wife, when we depart this shithole (UK), we leave our phones behind also Wink So good to have freedom, and be back to 'normal', no 'beeping', fuck-all, sex, without getting interrupted Smile Laughing

Nothing worse at the point of climax, you get a message that 'Trump' is 20 points ahead. Kills the moment it does, annoying.

@FireMaster Your younger than I expected, I think what your feeling is pretty standard for early 30's. I let a lot of life long friends go in early 30's because it was constantly the same ol' destructive shit (myself included), it's not easy to break the cycle and say no to old habits either. FireMaster did it! I have no urge at all to go anywhere near alcohol and my phone is still off. I'm not sure if I'll turn it on and reconnect it to the internet but if I do I hope all the bridges need burning have burned and collapsed already and everyone thinks I died and moved on.

Alcohol is a real bitch, I now see it as nothing more than a bottle of bad ideas and a waste of precious shekels best spent on positive returns.
