All will be taking part in the show’s “biggest escape” yet, which involves getting the suddenly resurrected Scofield out of a prison in Yemen — a location that adds an extra level of danger. As executive producer Dawn Olmstead says “All the people that you loved from the original Prison Break will all play a very significant role in helping Michael and Lincoln get out of that country.” This means we’ll also see Michael’s wife Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) in on the action.
The cast and showrunners tease a story that is bigger than a mere prison break, with layers of intrigue involving governments, terrorism, and unknown threats. But in keeping with its origins, Miller promises that the the revival will still rely heavily on themes of “loyalty, family, and sacrifice.” Bigger isn’t necessarily better, so fans can only hope that including the “whole world” won’t make the plot too convoluted. Prison Break will do best if it focuses most on the characters and the relationships that made the show popular in the first place, and the latest video seems to indicate that’s part of the plan at least. For his part, actor Purcell seems to think this revival will be “better than the original.”
