Had the same issue and it's not game's fault, it was mine, for rushing most of the time. I managed to get a good run, had enough Obos to buy astronaut, large vial and 6 ether for ressurection.
And also, used the shotgun with slug shot perk up until the boss - it's very powerful up close and the slug shot acts as a sniper ( for the boss either use the automatic rifle or the pistol ) It helps to go in there with high integrity and proficiency. Also, another thing to take into account is don't open chests where you know you get a weapon, leave them until your proficiency is higher ( +4 or +5 ), then backtrack and open them, maybe you will get a better weapon.
You can grab asshole parasites, up to 5 if you can find good ones.
Don't go in the challenge rooms unless you're willing to take the risk . i ran the challenge room before the boss, because i had all the items from above.
Thanks for the mod suggestions mens but I'll keep at it as is for now.
With each run I learn something new, the real trouble is dying to the boss (first boss) or on some room on lockdown because I didn't prioritize my enemies correctly.
And after making some 20-30min progress while playing only for that, it's extremely hard to pick it up immediately after again. At least on the souls games you could work on your equipment, character or simply grind your way but not here, it feels.
If you suck at the first boss, then skip it. After you beat it the first time, it's not mandatory anymore.
This is not a Souls game. Rogue-like has been around probably since before consoles discovered turn-based RPGs.
Finished this on ps5. Best new game on the system probably that is not a remake or a sequel

Reached second boss in one go. Boss had 20% HP left on his last bar and he suckerpunched me right back to the beginning. Now i have to farm weapons, upgrades etc all over again. Shift + Delete
Had a luckier run and managed to kill the first boss, and then just breezed through the 2nd biome and did a boss run just for the sake of it (backed up a save before using that savepoint device). Got through to his last phase before dying. Weird difficulty spike OR just rogueli(t?/k?)e things?
BTW, if you mens are having issues with the stuttering, forcing vsync on on nderpia's cp, disabling it ingame and running the game at fullscreen pretty much solved most of the stuttering for me.

Again this is not a game you beat in one sitting. You die a lot but unlock new weapons and weapon perks etc. Once you unlock the good stuff your runs are longer. Definitely not for everyone. Level 3 before they nerfed it was absolutely rage inducing when you encountered a certain enemy
Yea imagine getting upset about dying in a Roguelike
In those games you can either embrace death or.. play something else
Mind you it's already piss easy thanks to MKB
Btw. I heard of some criticism about this game, especially regarding performance
Apparently it stutters plenty, especially on weaker CPUs or if you enable RT
but I gotta say all in all it's a pretty great port isn't it? The plethora of PC related options, 21:9 and even 32:9 support, real time settings preview, FOV slider, adjustable HUD position for ultrawide, all vendor upscalers like DLSS included, DLSS3 patch incoming, shader pre-compilation, decent raytracing implementation, built in Benchmark, no DRM other than Steam etc etc
It kind of has everything, and plays great on MKB
not a fan of the epic service integration ofc but thats very minor

Imagine enjoying these shite mechanics.
Dark Souls - Rage, mouse or controller thrown at the wall and frustration for having to run for a minute to try again.
Returnal - Almost finished the game, but died. Now have to redo the entire game with a few qol benefits. Just fantastic. Who doesn't love that?
Im actually amazed a roguelike was made for consoles. This one is pretty easy tho, it may kill you a couple of times but nothing like standard roguelikes. If a roguelike has good gameplay, dying is just a challenge, the gameplay makes repeating fun

It's not a stellar port, but it's a great port after you figure out how to get rid of some of the more annoying stuttering (not the room loading one, that one still remains but it got better too). What worked for me on my gaeming laptop (5600H, RTX3060, 16GB DDR4, 970evo) was forcing vsync on the nvidia cp, disabling it ingame and running it at full screen.
The benchmark IS stellar, though.

I don't get why this game got so much prise. The premise was ok - a third person bullet hell rougelike. And me a rogue-whatever aficionado must say it pretty much lacks in every department except maybe how combat feels.
Most powerups and one time items feel meh, the "cursed" items and chest are just not worth the risks, parasites most of the time are not worth it. It's better to skip them most of the time and play vanilla, clean character. Long range weapons are just better because it's so much easier to avoid damage being further away.
So it's poor design wise, not really any incentive or way to make builds just gather health and some things that heal.
The enviroments are bland and ugly, after a couple hours trying to play it all again just discourage me.
Not to mention it's a full price for an AA-game.
There's also a total rip off on steam made by one guy that looks not much worse than this but at least has proper price.

Sony 1st party game. Sony has the most demented cult like fanbase out of everything. 1st party games are rare and they're valuable ammo against the "enemies" - xbox and nintendo. So every single one has to be the most amazing game ever. I could not believe the gymnastics some of them were doing to proclaim this game as an AAA production. Like, foaming at the mouth type of stuff.
Oh no, sony followed closely by nintendo fans are a breed apart. Maybe you've been blessed to not witness the insanity that console warring brings from these two groups in particular, so you dont know. I mean, we did have the same on PC, exclusives i mean. Up until the 2010s. Our favourite platform was filled with endless pc only and industry defining games. 90% of all genres in gaming were invented on PC. Nobody was some rabid idiot because of that. We just miss this particular way of games being designed.
These cultists just want people to not be able to play games unless they get a playstation and maybe get on their knees and worship the sony corporation. If anyone wants a sample of sony specific cult, you only have to read the sony blogs announcing a new former 1st party game coming on PC. Thats just an appetizer
Finished it - as got the second ending. Couldn't bother with hidden one which require to find some as I read randomly placed items. Around three hours to finish a run with such restricting procedual design is too much.
As I wrote previously it doesn't have the best mechanic design, half asset power ups, most weapons being useless and too long single run time.

Assault rifle, Hollowseeker from second biome (somehow enemies in first are faster than the bullets in close range), that acid spitting gun.
