alice is the most interesting thing in the show (and by extension her relationship with luther)... id be genuinely surprised if shes dead.. so yeah at no point have i been convinced shes dead. At this point itd probably be to the shows CREDIT if she actually was (even though id be sad they'd killed her off).
that said, luther has never been a well written show. everything is too convenient, logic-leaps happen too often and there have never been any really well developed or written or clever crimes or solutions to the solving of them... but really its the characters and the events that are the best parts of the show and to that end, i enjoyed the first ep.
It's still funny to see this thing where some kind of a deletion process is accompanied by an image gradually becoming more distorted as if there is some kind of an interference. So many shows do this... at least in this one there wasn't any actual static/noise on the screen (almost, though).
well.. i mean... despite the overwhelming evidence (or maybe even BECAUSE of it?) i just still dont believe shes dead...
that said, i think her absense from this season reaffrms that she (and her dynamic with luther) is one of the best bits about the show... i really missed not having her around, even in a small way. she was fantastic... if theyre planning on doing a luther movie, i hope its built around her in some way.. i mean it fucking NEEDS to be, given how this ended... god dammit!
all in all, sadly a pretty weak 'season'...was nice seeing idris again, and it had some cool sequences, but all in all, it felt a little confused and never really paid off in any meaningful way.
I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?

Finished season one, and it says a llot about England:

Well, I was plesantly surprised by this "season" considering how bad season 3 was. The usual writing goofs the show has got us used to, but still managed to entertain me.
Hopefully we'll get more of this sooner than later.
These two episode mini season felt really dissapointing to me. I'd rather they left it as it was - the cliffhanger, unresolved ending and the cheap way of writing Alice of the show (or so it seems) was really off-putting.
Idris Elba is set to reprise his role as London homicide detective John Luther with a new four-part installment of “Luther.”
“Luther” creator Neil Cross is on board to shepherd the production, set to begin early next year for BBC and BBC America. The most recent two-part installment of “Luther” aired in December 2015.
Cross said he and Elba decided there was a great deal of “unfinished business” for the character to tackle in a new batch of episodes.
