Yeah i went through it seems all the shortcut menu stuff in the options and could not for life of me find ALT ] anywhere... :O google was no help either..

Its kind of annoying as when I want to erase I want to clear lines under the layer on the sketch, and dont want to move away from the canvas.. I guess I am used to the modeling menus in maya etc where everything is at a right click or hold down pop up style of selection where ur pointer is.

I used to draw by hand a lot when I was younger, but I've never tried photoshop because of my lazyness (and lack of time). I'm actually better at paint Laughing

Are those cheap wacom bamboo tablets any good for drawing? They seem a good cheap solution.

yeah the bamboo tabs on all accounts of reading about them seem fine, a fair amount of people use them. Ive not tried one but they seem adequate unless u really want large space for moving hand everywhere with the pen.

I think there are various versions of the bamboo tab stuff, but not totally sure on that score. But make sure at least you get something that has pressure sensitive pen use for controlling strokes.

I can't see the benefit of the bamboo in the final execution steps, but I will give it a go again for the initial draft phase Smile

Btw, thx for the nice feedback, that is really encouraging me to do more Smile

Looking at that image again, maybe I should go more in the direction of GTAesque drawings? I'm not sure if anime is the right direction for me to advance. Though I liked the art style of the Berserk Mangas.

Think of it as its all only lines... I like manga/anime whatever etc and started to enjoy doing it because the line style was crisp and clear - If you like what you see and would like to do same then just do it...

As you are able to form a portrait how you have with a mouse as above there is no reason why at all you should not do manga stuff. You know how it is pumpy, time is the issue for learning of course but after all its just learning right Wink manga stuff is about repetitive techniques under a stable grounding of facial angles and shapes really.

Do what you want to do that's the fun I thought, you might surprise yourself - after all I started out many moons ago with pencil drawings of knights in full chainmail drawing each link lol - then to cats and mice - it had no real basis for whatever I do now I left that long ago, and with digital age more into the line art stuff and photoshop has made it easier for even me to get back to being a little arty.

There is so much help and varying tutorials not just vids but good written info for budding artists.

p.s my avatar needs changing again its even making me sick now just seeing it rotate..

Many years ago i had a Intuos with mouse and pen. I remeber spending hours creating galaxies and star fields using a tutorial like this: http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tuts_arts/making_a_star_field.html#tut

Great but never progressed any further and sold it! Smile

See, I don't see the reason to use a pen for that style of images, this is something that can also be done with a mouse... Hell, or even a touch pad. It's always inspiring to see the"pros" on television with pens and stuff, but tbh. they can't be as precise as a mouse, simply because with the mouse I have a cursor and that motherfucking pixel will only be drawn, if I pull the trigger

Id fuck her in a heart beat.. Very Happy

squash the image vertically a little Very Happy It might make the proportions more appealing to eye, other than that good work.. Big difference to the pics anyone draws btw is the tone/shading/shadow effects.. Those can really make a pic have better depth and give that light falloff more punch.
