A couch would only really work if you play with a controller and never use your PC for anything but games (e.g you are 9 years old).

With a desk (preferably with a keyboard arm which you can adjust) and a good chair you can tweak and adjust things exactly how you want it.. I rest my arm on the chair's armrest which is exactly lined up to where the mouse is, my wrist is resting on the gel pad.

Never had a problem with pain in my arms or wrist (this can be a really serious issue, and can be permanent, my father suffers from it from many years infront of a computer). I'd hate to have constant pain in my arm or my wrist..

He's talking about those small tables, like the one nouseforaname posted. Tiny corner with a table nailed to the wall.

Tucked away in a corner "that we dont use for anything anyways"? That really doesn't sound like your average mancave Wink With a large desk the computer becomes the centerpiece of the room, maybe not preferable to most parents or girlfriends?

The semantics here are very strange.. We probably shouldnt dwell on it Laughing

women are masters at this, most of the guys i know (especially the married ones) who moved in with their gfs/wives got "cornered" in the literal sense of the word. it's just sad Laughing

im actually having a long drawn out argument with my gf over this atm - if we move in together, i'm supposed to cram my desk (3m wide corner galant desk, similar to the one posted above - gotta fit those 2x27" monitors somewhere) in a fucking ~3m² corner in the living room because an extra room would cost too much.

but... i work from home half the time and can write off a home office from my taxes, so i would basically pay just around 200€/month for a 20-30m² man-cave. oh wait, now it suddenly is a brilliant idea and my man-cave is supposed to turn into "our" playroom because she wants to use my pc, workbench and expensive toys (which shit all over hers, not to mention she already broke one of my guitars)?

way to cut the branch you're sitting on, girl. /rant

lol. If you're not willing to sacrifice a bit of personal space for your family you probably shouldn't have one in the first place. Both my wife and I work downtown in a big expensive city, we're happy to sacrifice having a big house for being close to work.

We live in a condo townhouse that is about 850 sqft/ 80 sqmt over two floors, I'm just happy that I even have a dedicated space for the computer desk to begin with. I even bought her an electric piano that takes up a lot of space in our bedroom. My son's toys take up about 3-4x the space I have, but you know I'm fine with that. But I definitely don't consider it a "man cave" ... one day if we move out to the 'burbs I might have one of those!

double income, no kids here - i would sacrifice anything if i had kids, but the status quo is more like "have your cake and eat it". it's not about money, just denial on her part.

Yes just like they would for the man of the house Rolling Eyes never happens that way and you know it, women are much more of the do or die types these days. Fuck that, I will have the space I want unless they wish to pay for everything of course then that is a different matter.

It is quite apparent you have very little life time experience with women. And if you are in a serious relationship I will take a stab it has been only a short while.

a) we both sacrifice space, sleep, personal time, etc.
b) how much space do you need, maybe you're not the type to be in a relationship or have a family... that's fine but don't criticize other's who are
c) twice as much, but what does it matter?
