Yes popping colors can often be just oversaturation, though i did calibrate the alienware, but its just a rather cheap old calibrator i'm using with displaycal, it's not very accurate i think. This one out of the box looks way better (not just vaguely so, but instant, "damn, my colors has been shit!").
indeed, if there's really white and bright part then the black part next to it will look a lot brighter, not the case with OLED.
The alienware had like 25 zones or whatever it was, so 576 is a really big upgrade, the HDR is rated as 8 on Rtings, seems accurate to me. HDR always On with the Alienware was the way to go, looked much better even on Desktop mode.. but usually this is not the case i bet.
Anyways, i can recommend it. Good for the price, if you want something better it's at least 500 euro more. There's been some controversy - HDR while also using high refresh rate and i think flickering, but i'm on the latest FW and i have not seen anything odd yet.
win+alt+b is the shortcut for HDR on or off, rather good to remember if you have a HDR screen

Not sure why HDR is not automatic, even TV can do it alone.

yeah, the implementation is bad.
i've noticed a bug, screen can sometimes go completely black when switching to or from HDR, then you have to switch it either on or off again.. Did not have that with the alienware or ever with my OLED TV when i used it as a screen.

Alienware Is signify cheaper, I am waiting for black friday deal to see how much cheaper both can get.
I just cancelled deal to get the alienware 34 aw3423dw for decent price, for 2 reasons:
There is the alienware 34 aw3423dwf mdoel which is the same price and more stable moniter and to see how the Samsung 34 Oled can get.. the problem with the Samsung 34 Oled that it feature too much gimics that make it more expnasive.

I am now debeating between Alienware 34 aw3423dw and aw3423dwf, can you use FreeSync with 3070ti? cuz the 'F' version doesn't have Gsync support, only FreeSync.

34" Ultrawide OLED is perfect, I bought Samsung G8 ultrawide OLED for 760 euros, getting it tomorrow, I just can't stand 16:9 aspect ratio anymore and cba running my C2 at ultrawide mode with black bars. Also after once you try OLED, there is no turning back to glowing shit ips/va panels, unless its premium mini led model with shitloads of zones, micro led will be amazing tho.

For months I wanted to get the Samsung G8,I would probably have ordered in blackfriday deals but the the AW3423DWF is (in here) SIGNIFY cheaper, same panel and size better burn in warranty, yea the hz is slighly lowers but not a deal maker.
Cuz the AW3423DWF was much better value I got it insteasd of the G8, which is mostly more expnsive cuz it includes things I don't really need like it's own OS, built in speakers..
I don't need any of these since I have good sound system already connect and a strong PC.
The AW3423DWF does includes the option to connect external speakers tough, and it doesn't come whith shitty mini ports that you need an adapter to connect.

No problems with the ultrawide mode apart from the huge black bars, goes waste In my usage and 34" size is perfect for my desk.

Another problem with OLED TVs as PC monitors is that TV is still not a monitor. You have to deal with shortcomings in terms of need to have remote control around, text might not be as sharp as on better or best PC monitors, panel is 100% flat and if you happen to have your screen at the distance of the lenght of your hand, that can be a bit annoying due to not being curved at all. Also TVs are suffering from bad ergonomy (upper border not being in line with the eyes etc).
I have considered Samsung's G9 OLED for about 971€ brand new but decided not to buy it. 1440p is a bit annoying in 49" size, being super ultrawide can be useless in many games and as it looks Samsung has very very bad quality control in G8 and G9 models at least. If you ever decide to buy one, make sure that you can return it easily. There is still some level of uncertainty about of durability of OLED monitors in PC usage. Sadly warranties are quite useless at this and probably there is a reason for that. Hopefully home insurance can solve that?

Sadly it looks that we just can't have 21:10 1600p OLEDs in 38" size.
And don't get me wrong, no monitor is ever perfect but all these issues are worth knowing in case you can't live with them.

Text sharpness has nothing to do with "TV", its the panel type, only the very expensive professional 60hz OLED monitors has RGB panels, microsoft and cleartype is also here to blame, personally i dont see that problem, even tho im very picky about panels. Samsung has in Finland 3 years warrranty and covers burn in aswell, Dell has one too, i dont personally believe into burn in if you have modern OLED and use pixel shift, ofcourse it becomes problem if you plan to use 10 years your TV/Monitor.

TV or not the problem is still there. Some people are more sensitive to it than the others.
ps. According to Finnish Samsung website, Samsung's monitors have warranty of two years. No specific information regarding the burn-ins or pixels. Either way as I said before, make sure you can return your unit quite easily if you happen to have a bad luck. Quality control is very bad and that has been proven on a constant basis.

Samsung support said its 3 years and covers burn in, not sure what is right then... Anyway screen arrived, mine is perfect, no defects, colors are super punchy compared to my LG C2, red is insanely deep on this QD-OLED.

Congratz!
I would also pick it over LG C2. Much less of a hassle with TV shenanigans.

Those OLED Monitors are still so fucking overpriced.
I'm happy I picked up LG C2 42". Greatest purchase ever. There is no hassle setting anything up to honest. It's very plug and play as your average monitor.
