Severe lack of talent/quality players, very obsolete tactics not suitable to 202X football, poor mentality, absurdly incompetent dinosaurs at the helm of the federation, zero investments made in the past two decades...and the list could continue
It's been a long and steady decline (that the Euro 2021 fluke masked for a while), but this is the reality of things. Honestly, I'm actually glad for the outcome, since it's both deserved and necessary for a complete overhaul that was overdue. It's probably not going to happen though; money is very scarce in Italy, innovation is an unknown concept, and considerably fewer youngsters are interested in football these days compared to ~20 years ago, as they've all migrated to other sports like tennis, volleyball and athletics/swimming -- which is always positive, mind you.
Spoiler: | Even I don't follow football anywhere near as much as I used to..and I swear it has nothing to do with Juve being hopelessly miserable for years now |

As someone born in Bosnia, I could never imagine Italy in this state. Especially remembering the glory days in the '90s. Heck, we used to shout Italian names while playing football on the streets. Last night the team looked like lower division team. No pace, no leadership, no plan. The game itself was very boring from both sides. Bosnia was quite one trick horse with long crosses towards Dzeko but on the other note, they played with what they had and could. Game statistics were almost on a FIFA level.
I understand your point. Footbal nowadays is run by money and a lot of it. If there are no investments in the whole structure, things will start falling apart. Same can be said about ex-Yugoslavian top teams which used to produce some high level starts for decades. The problem is that all the money received from those transfers were mostly wasted on useless things from football's perspective. Some would say 'you get what what you deserve'.
I hope that Italy finds a new start at some point.

The spectacle during the matches may be abysmal, but at least Serie Ass shines off the field!
| Quote: | The Guardia di Finanza dismantled a network accused of exploiting prostitution and managing events linked to nightlife that allegedly served high-level footballers, including Serie A players, with the use of 'laughing gas' as a recreational substance, sources confirmed to EFE on Tuesday.
According to La Gazzetta, around 50 Serie A players, including some from AC Milan and Inter, were involved as customers. There is also talk in the investigation of a pregnant woman as a result of her relationship with one of these users of the prostitution network. |

Netflix and Amazon are leaving money on the table if they don't do at least one season of Live or Die: Real Madrid CF.

It will be fun to see an older and grumpier Mou handle such a group of spoiled brats. Either he'll perform a miracle (like Carletto did) or things will go genuinely awry and paƱoladas will fly

It was wonder that we were even in the competition for the title at this stage considering how inconsistent we were.

It's pretty when you win worst premier league, and scoring mostly from corners and committing fouls on opposite players and GK and constant diving by defenders in their own box.
But yeah I guess Arsenal did win the league
