True
Gameplay variety is barely given compared to other roguelikes
I mean in those other games you have a combination of likely hundreds of items, be it weapons, modifiers or upgrades that alter gameplay that are constantly thrown at you.
Here you get a couple of weapons and uh.. they don't change gameplay much and the upgrades are usually just making you a bit more powerful, not changing the gameplay or "build" dramatically
It being called a roguelike I went in expecting there to be such a concept as builds, but nah not really - not enough variety and modifiers to change the way you play enough to call it a particular build. You just take whatever weapons you get (avoiding some) and use them. The end.
The concept of malignancies and malfunctions is also mostly just a bother that people will go out of their way to avoid
I just never used malignent items except maybe at the very beginning of the run. They are mostly detrimental and not very benitifial and again, don't change the gameplay much except for being a bother.
Harsh when you get a permanent malfunction that increases the dash cooldown, lower health or god forbid "Hostiles counter on hit" in the tower
That's the variety in this game basically, things that make you stronger, things that make you weaker - not anything that changes the gameplay really
Plays very nice tho, looks good, interesting story and setting aaaand that's it

As a rogue-like pales in comparison with the likes of Risk of Rain 2.
But the story and atmosphere are pretty cool. It's definitely overpriced, but I stand by what I said that this was the only game worth it on ps5.

Uncle Diego has it for ~28€, but I'll wait for a sale. Most likely the price will be bumped up to 60€ before, though

You really think you can have reason in that bottomless pit of ignorance, narcissism and hostility?!
Hm...
You think that's air you're breathing now?
