For me its a tough situation. Is supporting falcom with my money for cold steel the right thing to fo? Absolutely not. They need to be told to get their shit together in some way, but its a lose lose for anything we do here in the west unfortunately. First four chapters of the new game has a big threat appear and rean starting to use his powers only tp be interrupted at the last second... it follows a routine and it gets horrible as you cant take the game seriously anymore

Finished the first Trails game many years ago and liked it alot, started and stopped second one two times already in the last few years, I dunno why but every time after the first 5 hrs or so I lose all motivation to keep playing it. Hearing all this stuff about the newer games doesn't really make me want to continue either, one day perhaps. I do want to support Falcom though, as I've been a fan of their Ys games since I played the first one as a kid on my Sega Master System.
btw, those two games mentioned above, are these the PSP ones that were released between Sky games and Cold Steel games?

yes they are pretty much midle games netween Sky and ColdSteel , originally released on PSP as well as PC in China with shitty ports and superdraconian DRM , but they are kinda fanfavourite that massive translation project started (and been finished in past months)
And seems like NISA will base their new ports (likely ported by Durante of DSfix fame who also ported Cold Steel) on their fan localization

iirc he was consultant on CS1 and few other Xseed ports . them je went to build own porting company https://games.ph3.at
and since then ported Cold Steel 2-4 (+robably some others ) , fixed port of Ys 8, and currently works on porting Ys 9 ... and likely all 4 today announced ports
