They are just greedy fuckers.
Dead Space Remake was one of the best horror games / remakes I've ever played.
I've even payed a month of EA's shitty sub to replay it a month ago...

The game just sold really poorly. Some hundreds of thousands of copies per platform. The reason they greenlit this project was due to the success of the RE remakes. This game probably sold worse than the 2008 one. One has to actually give credit to EA here, after the very first game all of them underperformed. And we still somehow ended up with 4 games. Almost insane of them when you think about it.

The problem is that they asked full price for basically old game with the new graphics. Yes it looks much better, has RTX effects and making that is not free nowadays but 60€ for remake is just way too much considering the world we are living in.
Hopefully the rest of the DS games will eventually get their remakes when the time is right.

The market is certainly not demanding shit games, as evident by the amount of layoffs and reshuffling happening in the industry right now. That’s not to say there are no shit outliers that have or are selling well, but it’s not the general case by any stretch of the imagination, as even the largest publishers, such as EA, are finding out.
There might also be some evidence showing up in recent years that gen z and gen a, while glued to their phone screen, are not glued to their TV or PC screens, thus as these generations grow old, the ceiling for game sales will drop somewhat. Remains to be seen by how much.

Really liked DS & DS2 and played them multiple times.
The Remake felt familiar, upgraded, fresh, and really "enhanced".
In detail, USG Ishimura looks fantastic.
Very similar in love for detail and atmosphere with Sevastopol Station from Alien Isolation. |
