Their official statment with the base hl1 update is that they "want to forget HL source ever existed, and they recommend people to play the original hl1".
I understand the need for retro, but while HL:S was disappointment in terms of remake, it still nice if you consider at as remastered, still better than a lot of crap the industry produce today.

HL:S gets more and more buggy, because Valve is changing the source engine, but not adapting the game to those changes.

How come the best article i've ever read from IGN just came out and its about Half Life and why do they nail every single point ? Im not kidding in the slightest. This is something i'd expect to read from some hardcore pc magazine 20 years ago. And its coming from IGN
Back in the day when I downloaded this from a hacked private FTP site, it took soooooo long over 33.6 modem. And my shitty PC could barely run it at 15fps.
But it was worth it, best god damned game I ever played.
