Oh, I have the original HL, but Source is very cheap I thought to grab it and play the "remastered" version, but it looks like it lacks the update.

Their official statment with the base hl1 update is that they "want to forget HL source ever existed, and they recommend people to play the original hl1".

I understand the need for retro, but while HL:S was disappointment in terms of remake, it still nice if you consider at as remastered, still better than a lot of crap the industry produce today.

Valve told people to forget HL:Source. It is a broken mess. I have finished the Source "retardo-master" 5-6 times over the years, and every time it is a sad thing to play & bugs out everywhere, besides looks like crap. It was a money grab back in 2004 (just before HL2 release).

All the modding community is on HL classic too

HL:S gets more and more buggy, because Valve is changing the source engine, but not adapting the game to those changes.

I disagree about its graphics though,
GoldSrc engine haven't aged well. At least not with out Some HD models fix.

It's still must play game for beginners players.

Back in the day when I downloaded this from a hacked private FTP site, it took soooooo long over 33.6 modem. And my shitty PC could barely run it at 15fps.
But it was worth it, best god damned game I ever played.
