If they handle the financials, I doubt that guy was going to keep tabs. In a company each has their own tasks and you got to trust the other so if they lied and stole money, unless he actually didn't trust them, why would he not believe them?

Of course the people who start such a project are obliged to deliver on their promises, but if they don't, what now?

Then you're left disappointed? What do you mean 'what now'? I've backed over 30 since 2012 and maybe 5 of them haven't left me disappointed. This topic is my 'what now', where I complain (or 'shout some stuff') while being more aware of shitty Kickstarters.

Couldn't help myself. Very Happy

System Shock is the only project still being developed that I backed and we both know how that's going Laughing They pissed away most of their money on making something nobody wanted and now they're doing it all over with no budget. Release 2032?

I stopped backing projects. About 60-70% were a disappointment or never even got released. We got some pretty good games though: Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland II, Divinity Original Sin (seeing a pattern here in what type of game turned out to be good?) but also Tex Murphy Tesla Effect which I loved but it's more a niche game.

Back to topic.

The grudge discussion can go on here, if absolutely necessary.

http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=113347

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/18/technology/kickstarter-union.html

Quote:
Kickstarter Employees Vote to Unionize in a Big Step for Tech

Engineers and others at the crowdfunding platform voted narrowly to form a union, one of the first tech companies to do so.

The decision, which was formalized by a vote count at the National Labor Relations Board, came down to a narrow margin, with 46 employees voting in favor of the move and 37 opposing it. The debate over a union — and whether such representation was appropriate for highly paid tech workers — had been a source of tension at the company for many months.

Maybe true in some third world countries, but certainly not in the rest of the world. Smug
