Detroit is nice and runs well so far. But does anybody else have stutters on the prerendered videos? I do realize they are hard to notice between the nice graphics the game has, but it seems like they might be frameskipping or so...

finished detroit and was very good, definitely it is their best game yet, soundtrack was excelent too, whole game was very immersive. if ps4 can run this kind of graphics imagine what their next game on ps5 could handle.

After some struggles with my problematic master/slave hub I played and finished Detroit as well, it was...better than the others
Once again, it required minimal brain activity from the player since all you have to do is press the awesome W button alongside silly QTEs, still lacked subtlety, still contained clichès, and more often than not it ventured into the preachy wololo territory - Cage's finest, but the result and the writing as a whole weren't anywhere near as facetious and downright off-putting to me as the previous titles.
The audio-visual presentation is objectively remarkable (except for the overdone killerblur) and I appreciated that unlike similar titles from the cinederpmatic world it actually gives you the liberty to make your own decisions, as choices definitely do matter.
If Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain both were in my opinion an utter waste of potentially interesting concepts (haven't tried Beyond), this one surprisingly managed to stay true to its nature without crossing the pear-shaped fence, not completely at least. This is a subgenre that I will never really consider worthy of being part of the gaming world, but as an interactive 3D show Detroit certainly has its moments. Not great, but more entertaining than what the TV could recently offer with Altered Cabrón S02 and Wankworld S03.

Honestly would have preferred if it were just a movie, the only interactions i found fun were choosing to unnecessarily scream at the douchbag cop. Finishing with best possible outcomes, the alternate endings are pretty damn minor and unsatisfying to spend 10 hours playing for. It looks pretty good for a ps3 era game i guess.

Caveat - - I have only played Beyond 2 Souls (about 2 weeks ago). Will try Detroit next. I just started replaying Beyond coop with my daughter (17 and *never* games except mobile Mario cart stuff) and we're loving it with her controlling the Ellen Paige char and me controlling Aiden. I'm enjoying the coop play through even more than my solo because as solo I usually let Aiden wreck shit even if Jodie asked him not to. But playing with my daughter, I'll agree to her wishes. It's actually cooperative
What I like - - the seamless transitions from watching to playing, the overall arch of the story as told jumping back and forth thru the timeline (tho I know that's not everyone's cup of tea), the actors performed great, the mocap animations look really good, can't fuck up and fail cuz you suck at qte, not too long, not too short. I loved how the episodes could vary from being a child playing, to working on a ranch, to being homeless, to CIA agent extraordinaire, and many in between.
What I find frustrating at times - - the seamless transitions from watching to playing... Lol... I know that's a "like" as well. Sometimes I find myself just watching, keyboard and mouse off to the side, not even thinking about playing and then suddenly a qte pops up and I'm like oh shit! But again, you can't mess anything up too much anyway so no biggie. The camera angles and controls (both kb/m and ps4 controller on pc) were frustrating often.
And a huge face slap to the devs that thought *requiring* a controller with motion control to advance certain sections... Ugh. I've worked around it in coop but it's stupid stupid stupid.
I don't own a console of any type and have never played a "game" like this before so it was welcome in this time of Covid and I'll gladly give Detroit a play based on what others have said... and also based off what others have said, I'll gladly avoid the other titles.

Anyone played Detroit on a 4-core CPU? I have an Intel i5-6400 @stock, and I suspect it's a huge bottleneck, as the game often freezes for 2-3 seconds, then resumes.
My VGA drivers are also not up-to-date (don't ask...), but I doubt that's the problem ,as framerate otherwise seems okay (I have a GTX 1660).

I played it on a i5-2500k. There was a bit of stutter sometimes with sudden scene changes (and the above mentioned stuttering pre-rendered videos), but not as bad as you descibed. Maybe once in one of the final scenes with loads of people on screen, but generally it was fine.

Hmm, thanks. I might just end up updating my VGA driver, then.

I didn't encounter any stuttering issues, but had to lower the settings to medium-high in order to avoid dramatic drops in the more crowded scenes. Having a stable framerate was simply not possible in my case (Win10 v2004/i5-2500k/GTX970), though the guided nature of the "game" and its channeled movements made the experience bearable even when the fps approached the cinederpmatic levels.

Well, I'm also on Win7, which might be another problem.
Fuck it, then.

The 6700K has HT, which is a major difference compared to my CPU, which has only 4 threads.

Played Heavy Rain decades ago and remember it being a good game.
Just finished Detroit and finished Two Souls, probably a few weeks ago. Beyond Two Souls is by far the best of the three games. Easily. It is more varied, better characters, better story. Detroit was a bit boring and I didn't really care much for the characters, apart from North and Hank

Kind of funny, most find Beyond two souls the worst one.
Not that it matters, you like what you like I guess.

Yeah, I got no idea though. Haven't given Detroit a try yet.
Heavy Rain I thought was fine at the time (not sure if it holds up), Beyond I couldn't finish, reason why I haven't given Detroit a go yet.

Thought all 3 games were similar and comparable... but I played them when they were released on Playstation so I guess back then they blew me away...
I think i liked best Heavy Rain atmosphere though... And I thought that Detroit was less linear than Beyond and Heavy Rain.
Some parts in Beyond were a bit boring but nothing too bad, some scenes were great and a lot better than what you can find in Heavy Rain or Detroit.
So it's hard to judge... I'd suggest all 3 games if you are into these type of games, but I'm not sure Heavy Rain holds up nowadays. Beyond probably still looks good though, it was a graphical marvel considering it was running on PS3.

i also played first 2 around their release dates on playstation and thought heavy rain was excelent but having tried it a bit now it dosent hold that good. played fahrenheit after heavy rain and was not bad. beyond was boring even then, great graphics but story wasnt really going anywhere and just dragged but it did had some great action parts. but detroit is the best.
