A Dark Soulsesque RPG with heavy combat. The world should be constructed big and interconnected... like in Shadow of Colossus f.e.
No more bonfire hopping from the get go! Each location should be some sort of (underground?) village/castle, dungeon and more... Demons should not simply wait in an empty room, which can't be opened, until the player passes by! Enemy patrols should constantly walk around the castle, look in the various, explorable rooms... especially if they discover that an intruder invaded the castle. And they should not stop until they know for sure that the intruder left/is dead. As the castles / dungeons will be full of enemies and each encounter could end deadly, the player can try to increase go berserk or try to be stealthy or of course try something in between.
With experience points, players can enable various skills. Enemies will not level with you. Even the lowest level enemy should be able to kill you easily, if you are not careful. Enemies will also not wait for their turn to attack you. Big stupid enemies won't even care if they kill one of their own, during a big overhead smash attack towards the player. (the smaller enemies of similar kin will retaliate though... like in Doom )
The player can try to use this to his own advantage. Combatants should try to use the environment to their advantage to outsmart enemies.
Every weapon found in game (or taken from a dead enemy) can be used at any time, though only if the right skills have been trained it will be used effectively (enabling weapon specific moves or spells/magic dmg). F.e. players with low str will be able to use a big two handed sword and they will of course do heavy damage with it, but they might be slower and a bit more clumsy. Players with an unlocked two hand skill should be able to fight faster and properly use the two hander and receive less dmg when in blocking stance. Two hand masters will be able to decapitate enemies.
Gear is important, but it will break over time. You can pick up any weapon from any enemy you killed, but you have a limited weight that you can take with you. Else your stamina will drop faster and you will be slower. (Unequipped gear also counts for movement speed penalties)
Big enemies with blunt weapons will smash of your armor & helmets with strong hits, throwing you to the ground and leaving you with partial armor... sharp weapons will cut off and hurt your limbs that dont have proper ammo.
Various sorceries should not only allow for attack spells but also defensive and stealth spells.
While approaching a castle, you will be sent into an instance with some other players (up to 4?) which will also to try and get to the artifact. You may work together but be careful, they can easily kill you (willingly or unwillingly) during combat. So don't trust anyone. But for the big boss enemies you should at least consider teaming up. Loot won't be automatically split up. Every body will take what he can, so it's up to your social skills if you leave the share of another player on the ground, or risk taking it all and getting stabbed in the back...
And so much more
