I think DDG uses google for your searches anyway, it just goes trough their servers to make you 'anonymous'. It is decent search engine.

No, they don't use Google.
Also, thanks for the tip about uBlock on Firefox, installed (and removed ABE)!

No, DDG have their own search engine (and for the record, on number of occasions I found it to search better for what I'm looking for than almighty G, and if it doesn't find what I'm looking for I just append !g after search string to search it again this time on Google).
Anyway what you probably had in mind is https://search.disconnect.me/ which actually let you search straight on G - or other search engines, including DDG, without being tracked.

So which is better in the long term for Firefox? ADB+, Adguard or uBlock?

My suggestion would be that you at least give a try to uBlock.

uBlock is a lot better than ADB+, the difference in performance is very noticable.

Can you right click on a picture (that's a chain of many more images in the same kind of ad) and click something like "Block everything from" ?..
For example, DeviantArt (everyday visit here) has some ads that are NOT related to DA. Can you block those UNRELATED ads while NOT blocking the art from DA?
Thanks in advance. Once confirmed i'll give it a try depending of the result

as far as i know you can..
it gives u a very nice visibility and overview of what is happening and lets you choose every single thing..
umm, i used this guide here, --> https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-quick-guide
for setting up dynamic filtering, its some fiddle at first but it remembers all and you will have full controll, its staggering what it can do..
oh, and this advanced guide i did use and its working like heaven..
--> https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-default-deny
heres an screen of how deviantart looks like for me
Spoiler: |
DONT be irritaded by the zoom in on that picture, its just an addon that views the full size pic behind teh link and displays it in an nice way without actually klicking on it....
if there would be any other ad, (wich i never saw any of with this setup now) you would spot it right in ublock, and it will be autoblocked, since i use dynamic filtering..
|
hope that helps somehow...
edit:
"Can you block those UNRELATED ads while NOT blocking the art from DA?
"
yes, i am 100% shure u can do that, thats what im doing....

But i guess it has a kind of predetermined "Block this bullshit already" function once you install the program like ABP does,right?..Aka any shit ad will automatically be removed on 1st install/restart.
Thanks ,and thanks in advance.

well, its all in the wiki
quote:
Out of the box, these lists of filters are loaded and enforced:
- EasyList
- Peter Lowe’s Ad server list
- EasyPrivacy
- Malware domains
More lists are available for you to select if you wish:
- Fanboy’s Enhanced Tracking List
- Dan Pollock’s hosts file
- hpHosts’s Ad and tracking servers
- MVPS HOSTS
- Spam404
- And many others
STandart there are 4 lists aktivated wich should get rid of it..
u can go into advanced mode and options and add more to the list if u need..
and this advanced configuring but very very effective..
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-default-deny
the defualt deny rules is wich i use, it BLOCKS everything form the beginning. wich is good for ur privacy and blocks the shit out of the ads...
its kinda advanced but once u get to understand this system its pretty easy and doesnt take much time...
greetz
edit:
u asked if u can block a "pic" by rightclicking on it..
yes indeed you can
just tested it, right click on pic or ad or whatever and u see the ublock icon in that rightclick menue..

How does this compare to Adblock Edge?
1 and 2 are still amazing.

If you mean the "you are using adblock, please disable to support us" instead of the advertisement, that's just an image they put under it, so adblock removes the advertisement, but the image will still show since that's the layer under it.
