Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Every song on that album is of such high quality they could all be singles.

hahaha yeah man
Like whatever u will still, but I have my own thoughts ya know
And like it seems either the brit music scene or both the brit and american music scene are trying to bring back a beetles like dress attire to rock...dont get me wrong, the beetles are sick. but really, tight fuckin pants, lipstick, gelled gay looking hair, stupid melody voices and 3 cords....damn, that shit shouldnt be allowed on the radio/in stores

Yes but saying that I hate seeing little kids walking around in hoodies of bands they haven't seen or heard of. I don't mind the "look" of the people its just fasionable like that i hate. I have nothing against mainstream either but i hate the bandwagon. for instance: the darkness. 1. they're shit 2. the music isn't remotely good 3. all their songs sound the same 4. the media started to like them so the public did. The same kinda shit happens throughout everything though. Take big brother for instance. Week 1. each major paper has a 'favourite' who they're backing. As the weeks go on EVERYONE starts to like the same person (nadia last year) but if you saw him/her you'd know she was just a spoilt trannie with a gay voice. Another example is 'jade goody' from big brother. everyone hated her but now she's seen as 'famous' and is in a magazine a week.
Anyway back onto the topic of music I just dont see how some people can like bands like the killers.

Yeah I agree Sublime
When I was a youth, I was what u could call a grunge rocker...but I just liked wearing jeans and any shirt i could...didnt have enough money to buy all the "cool" shit so I shopped discount....but it wasnt my style, it was simply the way i felt comfortable and what i could afford.
Now, all the bands today are supposed to be antidisestablishment yet have their own brands of clothes, food, rolling papers etc. But how can u be against the system when go and sit down on Jay Leno and give an interview advertising ur newest clothing line or something?
Punk, Grunge and rock is about not giving a fuck, not following trends, not doing something cuz its cool, but because thats what u do ya know? All these lickle suburb kids piss me off with that - either they think they think they are inner city gangsta's or, like u said, they throw on a hoodie and some jeans they saw in a good charolette video and think they are bad and against the system...come the fuck on
Like I said, Im waiting for new Marilyn Manson's, Rancid, Alice In Chains etc to come out..those are bands who have normal guy's in their group, but they are just fucked up and they share their stories...
Lane Stanley from Alice In Chains never once curtailed to corporate america...he simply didnt give a fuck...if u didnt like his views, fuck urself, if u didnt like his habits (drugs and shit), fuck urself ya know? Thats what its about...heart and soul man...being true to urself and if ppl happen to identify, great...I think the whole substance of "rock" has gone to shit, everyone plays the same cords and copies the same shit that was done years ago, no more innovation, no more songs from the heart
Like Lane Stanley said in Junkhead
"Seems so sick to the hypocrite norm
Running their boring drills
But we are an elite race of our own
The stoners, junkies, and freaks
Are you happy? I am, man.
Content and fully aware
Money, status, nothing to me
'Cause your life is empty and bare"
Know what he means by that? Fuck everyone and do what u will if it makes u happy.

You need to check out an Unsigned band from Manchester called "Oceansize" ( http://www.sizeofanocean.com/ ) .. they're fucking awsome, I interviewed them a few years ago at a gig.. kinda mellow Alice stuff..
Im a HUGE alice fan, I caught Jerry on his first solo tour a year or so back and it was awsome! I got to admit, I do like some of the mainstream bands, mainly those bands that have been going for 10 years then magicly became mainstream! NoFx, LessThanJake, The Misfits... Im also a huge fan of bands like Dashboard Confessional, Counting Crows, Matchbox 20..
ANnnnnnnnnd. Of course Alice in Chains.. As for FF THEY SUCK!

Im gunna check em out still
Jerry Cantrell is an AMAZING song writer and vocalist imo - but Lane Stanley will ALWAYS BE THE KING!
I cant lie, when he died a few years back, made me cry still
