It's amazing it's even getting greenlit, it's not like it's 100% certain it will make a profit.
They absolutely 100% could do movies like that, it's not hard at all, especially when they know what they public / fans wants. The issue there is it goes against doing movies with "the message", which rarely are profitable because no one wants them.
For me after the second one, it was done. It just got more outrageous, characters more tropey of their quirks and just a plastic bag of fan favorite tropes of them 95% of the time.
it's like the fast and furious to me. Each film after the 2nd, the plot had to get more ridiculous, the characters more 1 dimensional based around their 'caricature hook trait' and plot points made specifically to highlight those in specific scenes strung together with enough plot to tie them together.
So can they make it worse by recasting it? Nah, no more than the last 2-3 movies made it worse while not recasting it.
