I wonder the same thing. It's not like they're turning Chief into an asian feminist woman. If they had done something like that I might've agreed since I want main characters that they transfer from books/games into a show/movie to be how they were written according to the source material.
I have a much bigger issue with Triss being not as pretty as in the games and Jeneffer having a totally different character than her being Indian or Fringilla being black.

A regular girl is the main character. Masterchef is just somewhere in the background. They tried to make GoT in Halo universe, not for fans. They don't know for whom the series it. The second episode is filler already. Anything that isn't combat is bad or boring.

Watched the first episode. The battle was meh, very boringly shot. Somehow regular rifles and minigun operated by casual humans can't kill Elites but the same minigun hold by MC shred them to pieces.
The rest of the episode is: MC has a vision due to artifact and goes on an adventure with asian girl. There's also an officer's daughter that behaves or rather talks like in high school while being an army liason.
Meh. It has that young adult/teen vibe around it.

If it places master chief in the background for some random whamen to shine in the front then they can keep this series. Not even gonna bother as a fan of the game series.

Eh, it was entertaining enough. Certainly moreso than the Mandaboring and modern Star Trek.
Thankfully I have seen black and asian people before so their inclusion was not so shocking for me.
I would agree that Miranda Keyes felt very strange. I have no familiarity with the character from the games but she seemed so out of place in the show, like she was on a high school work placement in the role of military commander. Some weird ADR on Natascha McElhone, too.
