Considering a season per book which covers 7 years of life in the HP universe there was no other choice. I don't expect them to release a season per year. Looking at current pace of producing TV series, it will be probably a season every 18-24 months.
By the last season they will look way to old for their roles (like with the original cast )
Except horrible Snape miscast, this series doesn't look that bad from the trailer. I'm up for full books adaptation as movies (especially from 4th onward) where basically butchered (in a meaning of the amount of material being cut).
But damn, that Snape makes me angry a lot. I'll check couple episodes and see if it bothers me that much

The chances of getting at least seven seasons are low, and if there is funding for them, it will take 1-3 years between each season, so we might not see all the season within our lifetime anyway.
