Its the tan I think. When I was in Hawaii I always thought people looked so good. Some of them were on the bigger size too but I think it is the tan. Maybe because they were happy too. People from tropical places are always happy. Happiest country I have been to is mexico. These people work 7 days a week, some like 10 hours and everytime you see them they are smiling. I made friends with a local who was like that. I asked him when he had time for his family and he said "we don't have families here until very late because it is too expensive" I found that sad. I guess he didn't want his kids selling gum to tourist's. Can Cun. There are kids maybe as young a 5 selling gum all over the city. 5 yrs old and they know not to eat the gum and to get the money. So many things to get depressed about but yet so many were happy.
I blab too much |
Alot of parents in that part of the world put their kids to work. Its common for them to beg tourists for money. I think its sad and not right.

I agree but sometimes families have no choice. These kids were at least outside. Not locked up in some factory.

I disagree. Having your child help with the family crops or something along those lines is one thing.
Getting your kid to beg is wrong. For so many reasons. And plus, Im sure it doesnt help the kids self image when he or she begs someone. Its degrading and humiliating id say
I know. Ive begged before...one of the worst and most shameful experiences of my life

The kids weren’t begging, they were selling gum. They didn’t bother you after you said no.
In Canada if someone is without means there is help, if you know where to find it. Some of the street kids. it is a different story.

Nono, I dont mean the kids selling gum.
Take cuba. The kids there are dressed shabby deliberatly by their parents and are told to panhandle at airports and tourist spots.
Selling gum, lemonade, chocolate...thats cool
Speaking from experience, there isnt alot of options for street kids in Canada. Very few are selected for free treatment and education and stuff.
But, there are worse places in the world to be homeless.
The problem with Canada is the winter. Its much easier to survive in the summer than in the winter. It sucks trying to find a warm spot to sleep at nite.
Thats why I donate blankets twice a year to the police who go around and give them to the homeless. Seeing a homeless person breaks my heart sometimes. Or when you see young girls selling themselves to support their addictions or just to eat, makes me so sad.
I would glady pay an extra 100-200 dollars a year in tax if i knew it was going to help the homeless through education and setting up a life.
Imagine if every canadian paid $100 to a homeless fun. we have what, 32 million ppl in Canada? 32 million x 100 bucks is alot of freaking money. We could eradicate homeless in 5 years or so you know?
See, I babbling on and on too
