The overall question is too vague for me to say something as simple as "kick the shit out of him" or "sit down and talk over eggnog."
My answer would depend on a few things. When you say girlfriend are you talking about my girlfriend of four years that I'm thinking about proposing marriage to? Or the cheap little hottie that I picked up at the bar a couple of weeks back?
Is my best friend doing a little bit of flirting with the girl or did i catch them in the act?
I'm guessing you are talking about the worst case scenario. So let's say I caught my best friend with my gf of a long time period. In the heat of the moment I would more than likely kick his ass. I am really not a violent person. I've been in one fight my entire life but sometimes emotions get the best of you. After that though the gf would be dumped and I would never speak to my best friend again.

I've got nothing to prove to you. It's funny, you're obviously trying to compensate for some inadequacy you feel. So you're trying to force one on me. I'm perfectly satisfied with how I live my life, it's not going to work.
Thats the reason alot of people resort to violence at the first opportunity, they're compensating. Intelligence also seems to be a factor.
Go and compare penis sizes with someone else.

I think it's sad when women encourage men to violence.
Maybe the next time you talk to a bloke and his girlfriend kicks the fuck out of you no questions asked, it might change your mind. |
The more I read of your post, the more I realize your a pussy ass maggot, that wouldn't defend himself or anyone else for that matter. Anytime anyone on this forum brings up physical violence, you seem to run away from the whole idea scared, which makes me think your a just a weakling with a big ass mouth. |
The more I read of your posts the more I realise you're some dumbass thug who uses violence to solve his problems. The shit that society could do without. It's more likely someone who talks so big on the internet is in fact the weakling in real life. You've even made physical threats on this forum, that totally pathetic, and shows just how unintelligent you are that you have to resort to that.
Is my impression the correct one? I don't know because I don't really know you. You don't know me either.
I dislike violence. I think it creates more problems then it solves. If someone initiates a fight it just shows how weak willed they are in my opinion. Thats not to say I won't use violence to defend myself or my friends and family. If I know someone has my back, i'll have theirs no matter the situation, if it means I get battered then i'll do that backing up my friends. But I won't start a fight over something petty, if someone spills a drink over me as long as they apologise I won't make a big deal out of it, accidents happen.
Crawl back into your hole caveman, I have no respect for people like you. |
I fully agree with AnimalMother. Both with what he said to Jenni and nerrd.
And I'm not some random pussy, I train in martial arts 6 days a week. Kyokushin Karate, WTF Taekwon-do and Krav Maga. Not that anyone cares, nor am I trying to sound like a tough guy (I'm not), I just want to make sure you don't think I'm some wimpy pasty faced armchair pacifist.
Besides, Jenni - if my girlfriend were to chat up my friend, would you advice I kick the shit out of her?

"IT" didn't really start here, but that is not the point. The thing is that I, being such a "big man" and all, would have no problem saying that to his face. He on the other hand isn't.

If your best friend tried to steal your girlfriend he is not a good friend. But none of that should matter if you good a quality girl, she wouldn’t act on it. She has a mind of her own and wouldn’t be swayed by the attention of your best friend.
I had a similar situation happen to me sort of. At a party my ex’s friend used to drink a lot. He started asking me to take my top off and all that crap. He was pretty aggressive about it too. I even pulled the guilt card on him by asking him how he can ask me that when I was one of his best friends wife.
My ex could of cared less tho, It was all happening in front of him in a hot tub and he left. He just left me there with this guy. Alone.
I am still really good friends with said guy, he is married now and I think they are really happy.
nerrd wrote: | For me it all depends on the situation. If the girl allowed that guy to be hitting on her, I would dump the slut, and my "friend" would be safe from harm since he helped me to find out how my girl really is. On the other hand, if the girl got really pissed at the fact that the guy try to pass one by me, I would definitely straighten my "friend" out, possibly in the way that gingie51 suggested. |
I guess I must be a huge slut? I allowed some guy to hit on me.
Esel I liked your answer.

Even then I don’t believe in violence. Best revenge is to live a good and happy life
Even if you do catch your girl in the act I think the best thing to do is walk away. That is what I would do. I wouldn’t even confront him, just pack up and go with no forwarding address. Gone completely and he could carrie on with his life whichever way he chose.
(jen, I hope nothing bad happened to you)

Happened to me once....long way back but. Was together with this girl, she did all for me, and i mean ALL! As it turned out i started to...well not like it as she did anything for me, even the most stupid things, stuff i did not even want. I felt totally suffocated almost so i broke up, well that broke her heart, but only 3-4 days after she was together with my best mate. He was also the lead guitarist in the band i was playing in at the time. Tell you what! it broke up the band, as i became jealous and stuff ( i know, my fault).
I had a sort a professional carrier going in music at the time, Records, TV, Radio and stuff, all went south after this, could not listen to music years after this happened. Now I am working in Car Design and who knows, i might not have if this never happened.
Learnt a thing or 2 since then but.

If you catch your best friend in bed with a long time girlfriend who you love, what other reaction is there except violence. They both would deserve a beating, but as it is you'd have to settle for beating your ex-best friend twice as hard.
Maybe the shock would make you act differently then you expect though. I can see how murder could happen in these situations. |
No! no no no no no no no!
Violence doesn't solve shit. You'll release your anger on both and then what. No closure. You're just blocking the door, but it's not closed. It can’t close. It's fucked up. It’s temporary satisfaction.
Of course you’d be fucking pissed. I’d love to bash hers and his head into the pavement and just leave them in some alley to die. But then what?
I don’t see the point in violence over something like this.
It’s not healthy.
She obviously went along with him because her feelings for me are fading. And he just went along for the ride. Harmless flirting turned into something serious. And that’s it.
I’d just talk to them both. See where they both stand. See if anything can be worked out. If not, I’ll walk away and make new friends.
There’s really no need for violence. Violence in these situations can't be controlled.

Thats true. But can you really say you'd be able to control your anger in a situation like that, faced with the betrayal of not only a best-friend but also a trusted lover?
It's easy to say "i'd talk to them both in a controlled manner", but emotions can easily overpower rational thought in stiuations like this.

Well obviously. But I'll try my best to restrain myself.
I'm sure after couple minutes of being calm I'd run after them do something. But that's the last thing I'd want to do.

Pretty similar to what you see in this thread. |
LOL, picked me up on it. You are pathetic. You always run your fucking mouth of, not only at me, but you flame others as well. All I'm saying that you would never attempt anything close to that in RL, because some asshole like me would punch your lights out. And thats it. No threats whatsoever. Since you are such peace loving hippie as you claim to be, you should behave like one, not a stuck up wanker you play around here.

Nerrd, what is wrong with harmless flirting?
If the girl you’re with flirts with someone (stranger or someone you know). What’s the big deal?
At the end of the night she still comes home with you. She sleeps in the same bedroom as you. She’s yours and you’re hers.
If you have trust issues then you should work them out. Cause if you think that she’s going to cheat on you simply because she exchanged a few winks / smiles with someone then seriously you have to work on something else you're going to get jealous every time some guy says hi to her. And possibly kick his ass and maybe smack her couple times to stop her from thinking these ‘illicit’ thoughts.
lol illicit!!!

Quote: | flirt: playful behavior intended to arouse sexual interest
Flirting is often described as casual conversation with a romantic touch, but it need not be spoken interaction at all. |
I don't have trust issues at all. I've been with the same person for over 8 years. She goes out to bars once in a while on her own, I have no problem with that whatsoever. The thing is that she is smart enough to tell a guy off if hes crossing the boundaries. What kind of fucked up relationships were you in where your partner is allowed to flirt with others? You might be as well saying "oh she can take it in the ass, as long as she saves the pussy for me when she comes home". Flirting is sexual in nature, there is no room for that in a serious relationship.
But then again, looking at todays divorce rates, I'm not surprised to have some of you think that way.

The problem with flirting is that some people will interpret a mild amount of flirting as more than it is while others are oblivious to flirting altogether. The same goes for the flirter. He/she may not realize that they are flirting with a person. Others stray away from flirting altogether less it be interpreted incorrectly.
I personally have no problem with a little bit of flirting. I do some very mild flirt with friends' girlfriends and whatnot with no intentions whatsoever.
Spoiler: | Kind if a funny story about flirting...
My parents still go out to bars and whatnot on the weekends to see their friends' bands play. They have been married for almost 25 years now and are extremely happy together. My mom gets hit on a lot by younger guys even with my dad right next to her. My dad, as expected, gets a little frustrated in these situations. After a sentence or two my mom introduces my dad to the ambitious young man and he promptly leaves. It has happened quite a few times and we always get a big laugh out of the whole situation. |
