Screw the LED lights, wait for the diesel version of the R8, 5.9l V12, 493hp and 738lb ft torque, now that's something worth getting.

Yeah, and with that 738LB/FT of torque comes a 3000RPM Redline which will seriously kill that cars performance.

i don't think so

Code:
The two turbochargers, which generate up to 2.6 bar of boost pressure, play a crucial role in producing the huge torque of 1,000 Nm (737.56 lb-ft) that the V12 TDI maintains from 1,750 rpm to 3,000 rpm. In developing 368 kW (500 hp), the diesel achieves a specific output of 62.0 kW (84.3 hp) per liter displacement.

don't forget that audi r10 [diesel] won at Le Mans Wink

Oh I think my grammar was retarded. What I meant was "It comes with a 3000RPM Redline" as in a super short powerband that may not be suited well for performance driving. Lots of people are doubting what it can accomplish on a track.

But what do I know. Just not a fan of that huge torque spike tied with a super short gearing and immediate redline.

1. Low revving + tall gears = less fun, and not much more quicker than current version
2. That particular motor weighs a whopping 700lbs since it uses an iron block. Unless Audi can get its weight down, this could have a seriously adverse effect on the cars performance.

A diesel motor like this is more suited to appliction in the A8 sedan, where it high torque, tall gearing, and excellent fuel economy are more appreciated.

Keep in mind that with the much taller gearing required for the lower redline of the deisel engine, the torque produced by the wheels will likely be similar to what any other 500 hp engine would do, even if it's a high-revving 350lb-ft gasoline engine.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, this is more a marketing ploy then a real performance enhancement. The car is gonna get insane fuel economy for it's power output and that alone will be a huge draw.

But in terms of raw performance, lower power gasoline motors can easily out perform this at the expense of fuel consumption. I don't understand what they are doing with this car, putting that motor in it makes a direct competitor of the Lambo Murc, I guess they don't care where profits come from.

EDIT: LoL, I don't HATE diesel. I just like high revving motors that's all. Sucks that the USDM Sti gets a 2.5litre block and the JDM gets the 2.0 litre with the 8K redline.

Seems like they are catering to each audience, Americans like instant Torque while the Japanese prefer winding their motors out into crazy redlines.

Yeah, they do that with pretty many models - good example is the S13 Silvia. You yanks got the 155 hp, 2.4 litre N/A engine Very Happy

While the rest of the world enjoyed the CA18DET Smile

That's why I got rid of mine! Everyone around here was doing SR swaps, I didn't want to invest that much money. When I think back, I could have easily made 350Whp. Plus with the coilovers it was one of the best handling cars i've ever driven.

Oh, you had an S14a, sweet Smile Are they called S14a in the states too? I mean opposed to the first S14 model.

And yes, lowered and stiffer suspension does wonders, atleast it did to my S13 Razz

Nope no A's or B's Lol. Just plain S14 here. My front end was the traditional one from what you are reffering to the first S14 model. I just did the Kouki conversion to the front end (From the S14a, or JDM front-end) for a more updated look.

Yeah I loved that things suspension. I had Koni Yellows all around, that thing would 3 wheel during hard cornering.

Do you have any pics of your ride?

Well, depends on were the car is from Wink

The S13 was called 180SX in Japan and Australia, simply because it had the 1.8 litre turbocharged engine (CA18DET - 1.8l, D for Dual overhead cams, E for electronic fuel injection and T for turbo).
In the states, it was called 240SX because of the 2.4 litre KA24DE non-turbo engine, an engine primarily designed for Nissans trucks and jeeps. Why they got the KA24 was just because Nissan figured the Americans would probably like a bigger engine, than a small one.

And in Europe, it was sold as 200SX, for no obvious reason.

When the S14 was introduced, so was the SR20DET. A step up from the 1.8 litre CA, to 2 litres. Still in the states they got the same old KA24DE.
