Bad luck dude. I remember having to do that crap when it was just introduced. I don't know if its changed much down the years but when I got made redundant and got put on this new deal sceme because I was out of work for a while it really was a waste of time (and your spot on, its all about massaging the figures to show unemployment isn't as high as you think). Thankfully I wasn't there that long as while I was waiting one day in the jobseekers place I overheard one of these chaps talking about how he had just beat up his wife the previous night - motiviation enough for me to get the fuk outta there and take any job going until something better came along.
Like you said, you've plenty of time. Im 26 this year and still not got around to passing my driving test its on my to-do list this year tho

Im not a waster and i'm not greedy, and one thing is for sure I am not ungrateful. I know how much of a gift it is to have a father like mine, he would never ask me rent to stay at home. Im only 20, so I'm not in any rush to get my own place. This year I just plan to get on my feet again and get myself at least a part time job and a driving liscence. Then next year, I plan on moving up to a better job.
I think at my age I can take an easy year.
Is it possible that your family are so loving and supportive they won't give you the kick up the backside it sounds like you might need? You seem quite laid back and the longer you're out of work the harder it will get.
When I was in a similar situation it was straight down to temp agencies on a monday morning to try and get an office job on the back of my computer skills, bit of bullsh*t on my cv etc, this was easy because of what part of the country I lived in. But being proactive, or being seen to be, can pay off.
Sorry if I sound a bit harsh for all I know you're trying your arse off, I know in some areas it isn't easy to get work at all.
