Omg my fucking ASUS also failed that way and I replaced it with another one (same chipset more or less, just the SLI version) and it was also kinda faulty (powers down randomly)

Had to upgrade almost all my PC parts then. Sorry for offtopic, but just for the record : Fuck you ASUS, fuck you hard.

heh, guess I missed your post a month ago Surprised

yeah, I replaced it with a zalman fanless cooler, at least that can't fail again Razz actually it took me going into about 10 stores before I found it ... it was in an area of the city littered with 20+ stores within walking distance, but one guy even said 'you should buy a new mb when the northbridge fan fails' :/ would have been the same problem in that I would have to replace the whole 939/DDR setup.

the other ones I found were actually supposed to 'stick' onto the chipset instead of using pins to go through the mb :/ x2 at least the zalman cooler has adjustable pins so it fits

Yes, NXE is a required update and holds plenty of new features which can both benefit your arcade games and retail games.

Yups the Iextreme firmware is build to play stealth back-ups. eXtreme tho will play any backup regardless of what kind of wavetype your iso is.

Some games still only use wave 2 (RE4 for an example) but it seems like every new game will be wave 3. Though you are able to patch the wave 3 game to make them work on an older firmware.

How do I upgrade a hitachi from 1.41 to 1.51

I got the drive into ModeB using SLAX disc when I flashed it to 1.41. Now the new 1.51 fw doesn't have any .BAT files its just a bunch of .bin

Depends on the hitachis version. The newer (as far as im concerned) only supports 1.5 atm.

1. To get an already flashed Hitachi into Mode B you just need to power it up with the drive tray open (start console, open drive tray, unplug console, plug console back is, start console). This a feature in iXtreme.
2. For flashing my Hitachi 1.4 to 1.51 I used this tool: http://rapidshare.com/files/208742676/iXtreme1.51_Hitachi_DHX_rev2.7z
I think it's a homemade update for the old flah .bat files. It worked for me while Jungle flasher did not.

Thank man. Jungle Flasher is horrible. I was restoring fw using that crap and during one of the flashing sectors, the entire program just fucking froze (not responding) and so basically I bricked my first Hitachi drive tonight because of that Jungle shit.

Anyways so with the batch file that I just downloaded, what exactly do I have to do after I get my drive into ModeB? I forgot do I just flash it and it will overwrite the 1.41 with the new fw or do I need to go back to Orig and then flash to 1.51?

Dang I freakin hate that jungle bullshit. I dont have access to another console with Hitachi drive until tomorrow night. Any way of un-bricking this one? Green light in the middle keeps blinking and the tray wont eject.

There is a fash151.bat and a restore.bat.
You need to have yourdrive in mode B and connected to your PC (in plain english: you need to see your X§60 drive in the windows explorer adn it needs to have a drive-letter). Run restore.bat and enter the letter of the X360-drive. After restored the original, non-iXtreme firmware IMMEDIATELY RUN FLASH151.BAT and anter the drive letter. If you restart your console inbetween you will need to get it into Mode B the complicated way (like the Slax disc).
That should do it.

EDIT: If you try to flash it without going back to original first, it will just abort and tell you to restore first, nothing will go wrong.
