may have been a bit too bombed last night but i tried the new decryper on GT with 5.00-6 firmware and it would'nt boot, it just black screened after the logo... so I tried on the other psp with GEN-B2 on expecting it to work as with the first decrypter but no, black screen too

...shrugs

1. Remove from the image of the game loader EBOOT.BIN;
2. Decrypt it with ???
3. Apply the patcher.
4. Boot back into the image.
5. Rewrite the image on the psp and play.

I can confirm the patcher works with PixelJunk.Monsters.Deluxe a PSN game which requires 5.50

Confirmed working on 5.00M33 Shocked Didnt require a decrypt either.. Confused

Thanks for the heads-up , it says witht his update you can launch ALL games, without needing patching (umd and iso)

Cool stuff, upgrading from M33 to GEN turns out to be a good idea after all !

Yoshi already said on his forum that this current release is bugged and he's working on uploading a fixed one, which should eliminate the freezing and crashing (also seems that the current 5.50 C doesn't load certain ISOs/CSOs either) without the need to format Flash1.

Besides; still no 1.50. Fuck this firmware Razz

Wtf is up with the 1.50 shit ? What apps do you run that require it ?

The only application I care about is the GBA emu gpsp. I haven't used it in a while, will that run on my GEN ?

with GEN fw, you can only run official psp games - that's it. the 1.50 kernel (which is still missing in GEN) is required to run homebrew, ergo no GB emu for ya.

I call bullshit.

I tried GEN-B a few weeks ago and Snes9xTYL did *not* fucking work. It's not physically possible for it to work because Snes9xTYL is built on 1.50 and there is NO 1.50 support in GEN-B. There hasn't been since GEN-A. So unless you got a newer version that I don't know about... then I want pics Cool Face

Well, did you put it inside the GAME folder ? I just put it there and threw the rom inside rom folder.

EDIT: Just went into my recovery options and my setting for Game folder homebrew is "5.xx kernel" which I suppose is the default.

I tried all of them on 5.50 GEN-B; GAME, GAME150, GAME3xx, GAME5xx -- all threw up the 80xxxxx error on load. It's a known fact that no 1.50 apps/emus work on GEN-B, so how have you - out of the thousands complaining about it - managed to get it working? Razz

Oh and I also tried recovery options for homebrew mode, still no luck.

One last thing; it's not just emulators either, it's basically any app written on/for 1.50 firmware -- Cave Story, Elite 2 Frontier and Tyrian both spring to mind :-\

I don't know, but I upgraded from last M33 to GEN-B2 when the shitstorm happened. My firmware reports : 5.50 GEN-B (Full)

The emulator says on top : Snes9xTYL 0.4.2 (3.xx)

And of course it doesn't matter if I use M33 or sony driver. Maybe you have a phat psp ? I'm on slim.

Also, this emulator is not written for 1.50 ! It's written for 3.xx obviously. Just also works on 5.xx

Yep, Phat PSP here -- and being on the Slim I find even more curious, as the Slim doesn't have hardware support for 1.50 at all and *requires* firmware addons to work :-\ Mate, trust me ok? SNES9xTYL was written ON 1.50. The emulator hasn't been updated for how long now? A year? Two?

Yup, I'm sure FW3.xx was out two years ago, seriously Very Happy

Also, the firmware I flashed isn't some fake shit, because it played some games that I couldn't play on M33. Also, has GEN-specific options.

Anyway, on that thread I linked you it says that version is for slim psp, so maybe that's why it failed on your phat !

P.S.: Can someone on 5.50 GEN test this ? Just drop the emulator folder from the thread I linked in your psp\game folder. Should show in your games list.

Nah, I don't think you're bullshitting - I just think something's not adding up. It's a well known fact, posted about on any PSP homebrew/hack/whatever site you can name, that GEN-B lacks support for most known emulators -- all of which require 1.50 to work. GEN-A works fine because Yoshi released a 1.50 addon, just like D_A did with for the Slim and his latest 5.00 M33 firmware releases.

You don't. Simple as that, because it doesn't - yet - exist for 5.50 GEN-B and above Sad I'm glad there are a bunch of emulators that work now, but I'm not perma-switching until a 1.50 addon comes along (I play Elite 2 and Tyrian religiously Wink)
