the PC has a much greater piracy number pr user compared to consoles due to consoles require serious effort on the users side. Especially the 360. PS3 is also easy, but the big flock is already stuck on OFW 4.31.

console piracy for us is easy, but piracy pr user on consoles is probably nothing compared to PC.

Well, a Mac may be a personal computer, but it isn't a PC: Cool Face

I really doubt it would work well when trying to pirate games. And besides, since the SteamBox = PC adapted for TV, I could very well just buy a PC and hook it to a TV. And they're different things in the end.

You only need internal space for your profile and DLC, if you don't give a shit about DLC a external is all you need. XBLA and Retail games works perfect from it Smile

You can always use a 16 GB USB stick for DLC anyway since you can format it to the X360 format and use it as a "internal HDD".

Man, I know how cheap this sounds, but I may just go with the Wii since I can get one for like 50€.

That and because I can already see the Xbox360 seller (which I'm still waiting to hear from) asking me for an amount I'm just not able or willing to pay.

That's just it. I have no idea how much he wants for it. I sent him an email asking for a base price, but I'm still waiting for a response.

A Wii and a 360 just cannot be compared... game wise they are totally different, only WiiU got similar games.

I know that. Sad

If I were looking to play a specific game like, let's say, Red Dead Redemption, the competition would obviously be only between the PS3 and the Xbox360 (and I would prefer the Xbox360 in all honesty).

But the thing is: I'm looking for a console in which, without effort, I and my family can play pirated games.

If nothing has changed then the Wii certainly is more or less effortless to hack. Sure, games doesn't look nearly as good as PS360, but there still are a lot of games to choose from. Especially family games.

You DONT need that. just format the external via fat32formatter and in xbox orginal dashboard to make it your "internal drive".

I'd say go with a Wii for now, especially since it's the holidays, and that seems more suited for what you want right now; a cheap console to provide enjoyable time with your family/friends; and if you have kids, the'll love it.
You might need to get more Wiimotes controllers to play with more people, so keep that in mind.

And later, you can get a x360, the prices are going downhill anyways, so there not much to lose if you get a proper hardcore gaming machine, say... 2-5 moths from now.

Yeah, that's not exactly the Wii family party experience though. Laughing
For that shit you got for a 360 with kinect instead Troll Face

Nah, the reason you get a kinect is to pet a baby tiger and hide in the lava. Poker Face

For Xbox there are 2 ways. First is to flash the DVD-Drive and burn backups to DL-DVDs(requires you to open the Xbox and put a cable to your PC).

this is advice from a couple years ago. without jtag or glitch you can't play newer games with this method. I don't even know if you can even do it anymore.

I'm looking at a Xbox360, in which the owner claims the console runs games from the HDD, and the method specified is via chip.

I have yet to ask him about this chip, but is it right to assume that it works like the JTAG and RGH method? As in: we can indeed play games from HDD? And are there drawbacks from using it besides losing access to Xbox Live?

Or could this "chip" just be the owner's name for the hack he has on the console?

---------------

BTW, if I buy a hacked Xbox will it be compatible with all games?

If not, and assuming the hack to be old, and therefore unable to run at least the newest games, is there a easy way to update it or would I need to basically hack it again?

---------------

Oh, how about the x360Key? Does it work? Is it preferable to the other methods?

The chip is most likely a chip to RGH the 360. No, there is no drawback. You can play 100% of the games, but eventually one day (in 1 year minimum), you will have to update your kernel, because some games compiled with the latest SDK will either not work at all, or have side effects (sound issues, etc...).

And yes, you can update yourself without opening the console once it's hacked, so it's vulnerable forever.

EDIT : the x360key is basically a dvd drive emulator, which allows you to load x360 isos instead of burning them.

This means, only REGION FREE (or your 360 region) games, and NO DLC or no XBOX LIVE ARCADE games. Basically it's the same as flashing your dvd drive (you need to dump the key from your dvd drive to use x360 key), just that you don't have to burn games. Only good point about this is you can play on Xbox Live (I guess, but has to be checked..)
Considering how overpriced it is, for this price you can RGH the 360 which is a lot better.

Thank God for that. Laughing

And how would that be? Via USB? Or would I need some special cable?

You plug the HDD via USB, but you have to open your console to plug the x360key. As I said, plugging it isnt enough, you need extra hardware to extract your DVD Key, which is basically the same steps as flashing your DVD drive.

So it's costy and pretty much useless for what it is IMHO.

I was referring to the JTAG/RGH/chip method. Razz

An USB HDD is all I need to update the kernel then?

I would say that 360 is still a console of worthy recommendation.
Dead Rising - best zombie game ever. second game was crap compared to this imo
crackdown
THE DARKNESS - ps3 version lacks any form of aa and is overall worse performing
Red Dead redemption
GEARS OF WAR trilogy.

and more I don't think about right away.

ps3 also have great games but it is just a personal taste

3080 | ps5 pro

Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
