Yeah, almost nothing in the dreams functions as it should. Clocks don't work.

Cars in my dreams do, also skis. So I guess anything that has a notion of you moving on it. But at the same time you move anyhow just by thinking. I can fly and it's really awesome and euphoric, but if I stop and think that I shouldn't be able to fly - I fall down Very Happy Then I try not to think about "not being able to fly", so in a way I forget - and I can fly again!! Laughing

It's as if your mind is generating a world, but it has only 10% of the normal processing power, so not all normal notions are processed, until you notice they're not working, and you focus on them. And even then some things are too complex for your mind to recreate accurately, so they work unexpectedly or don't work at all, which can frustrate you and lead to bad experiences.

My advice if you're not dreaming - you aren't getting enough sleep. Try to sleep more. Disable your alarm and phone on weekends. Let your body sleep for as long as it wants. Then when your mind is rested enough, you will start dreaming again at the end of each sleeping cycle.

Etc if you sleep for 8h, you only dream in the last 1h. So sleep 1 more hour - you will again dream, the same or a different one. I can do this 2-3 times at most. After 12h of sleeping I start to get a headache.

I mean most of your dreams are during the end of your sleep - in the morning.

Another interesting thing - during anesthesia there are no dreams or notion of time.

I was in the USA, Dallas TX - KFC is almost the same thing as here. Just you order with #3 and #4 instead of the actual burger's name.

Well too bad for you.

My mind randomly constructs elaborate, amazing dreams, filled with colors and emotions..

Some of my dreams were weird and polygony, caves made of triangles... just like computer games. Also monsters and giant robots, and I'm pretty sure that could have turned into a nightmare. But for some reason my mind recognized that I was within a computer game... And I'm good at those. Nightmare averted.

Actually that reminds me... I didn't have a nightmare in the past few years. Not a single one.

As a kid it happened quite often, that feeling of immense fear and panic, and sometimes I was so shaken I couldn't sleep again for an hour or two.

Maybe the more you are in control of your own life, the less nightmares get?

When you wake up the dream is in your short-term memory. So if you don't go over it several time right as you wake up, to translate it in your long-term memory, it begins to fade. After a couple of hours you'll only remember the fact that you had a dream, and did it have some emotion.

I often have dreams that makes me annoyed for not really remembering what it was about, but I have a sense/feeling it was kinda awesome.
Other times I remember small details, even if its a long dream. And I can feel in dreams. No idea what idea what it is... and its not pain (that would be strange) but its something hard to define :/
Kinda like when someone told me you can't taste anything in a dream. Of course the following night I had a dream about trying if I could taste in a dream (probably because I was thinking about it so much that day). Anyways, for some reason it was scones and the first two tasted northing. And I was kinda getting upset in the dream... and I "tried harder" Laughing and I was able to taste something, very light taste and probably just my pillow or something, because it sure didn't taste like food.

I have felt light pain, taste, smell, colours etc. in dreams.

The best way to dream though is Lucid Dreaming. I've never practised to be able to do it at will, it has simply happened that I've become aware that I'm dreaming and suddenly have some/a lot of control over what I'm dreaming as well as learnt how to wake up by will. In the dream (when I'm aware of it) I simply blink my eyes in the dream until I am suddenly awake and blinking my eyes. Voila.

Hasn't happened for many years though.

I don't like most of my dreams, they seem fucked up a lot of the time and things happen to people I care about ... thankfully so far I haven't had the pleasure of having my baby son die or be hurt in a dream :/

yeah, having undergone surgery (and it seemed like I immediately woke up a few seconds later after 'counting backwards' even though it was a few hours) ... gives you a perspective about what no life after death might be like (also :/)
