It does put things in perspective.
What I really want to see is the whole thing going down without any sort of terror incident. Sure I'll keep laughing my ass off at the misery of journalists and media people, but if they failed to make basic facilities work like normal, and hotels are sub-par to say the least, I wonder just how tight their security is.

Wow, this is absolutely embarrassing. Not that I find it surprising.. but still. I only hope nobody dies during these three weeks 
This summer we'll probably have something similar with the world cup in Brazil (followed by the Olympics in 2016) xD

I watched it back in January and been to Sochi twice last year. No one says there ain't 50 billion bucks stolen, locals oppressed and robbed of their land and shit. I just wanted to stress a well-known fact that western media has that tendency of portraying Russia as an enemy and propaganda still exists in the so-called free world (US and EU).
That's why I suggest reading non-Russian blogs and sites, which have the decency of portraying how things actually are. I don't think anyone would imagine Noah Hoffmann's blog is being written by Putin or the FSB, right?

According to wiki, it is 7 billion bucks more expensive then the Chinese summer olympics.

i can see, that most of the "funny" (or sad) pics are probably fakes or at best not current (but from a year ago). But all in all that doesn't changes the amount of bullshit that went into these games.
50 billion and counting.
People getting evicted from their homes and have their land confiscated.
Huge environmental impact.
etc etc.
Also i think the whole thing is more show than actual substance lol.

i'm with difm on this one. There is no censorship here. This is simply to show a proper image of the 5 rings. Is it a bit silly ? Perhaps. Is it in any shape of form censorship or anything like that ? Not in the slightest.

The first 10+ websites that define censorship when googling it, state the same thing, so i guess everyone except you is wrong?
So lemme get this right, everyone thought it was censorship when Turkey showed other video's than the riots on television, because they didn't want them to see something was wrong.
But Russia showing something other than the original image on television because they didn't want to see something was wrong, isn't censorship?

But since you insist, here how it goes :
censorship is the removal or hiding of information.
Neither applies here.
It's an editing of an artistic performance in order to show the whole thing as it was intended for the public.
Apples, Oranges, you hopefully get the idea.
