Filled my public duty and started playing it
Sometimes I really want to compare this game to Dragon Age 2. Because you are sort of thrown out on the battlefield and its the first game that popped into my head when I started playing it
gfx: 5/10
story: 6/10
gameplay: 7/10
KatuDeelix:
Is it worth playing?
YES!
Only played some hours tho... and its been fun. But its not one of those games that keep you occupied for hours because its so interesting. Sadly
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
Despite all the warnings I have bought the PS4 version.
I should have it by Friday.
I understand I may play the game for a short time and consider selling it or trading it lol.

I guess the lack of ps4 games makes you jump on that one easy?

@headshot : you will like it, usually you like everything you buy, but that's what happens when anyone buys a game, you always try to justify your buying
Yeah it's crap, but the general "you" who is gonna buy it will force into liking it. I wasn't used to that much cuz of piracy, but when you have to buy games, you finally get to even enjoy crappy games
Go ask headshot, I don't remember of any game that he hates, I think he even managed to play Alien PS3
Alien 3? I think I played that on Super Nintendo lol. If you mean Colonial Marines, yes I did like that more than a lot of people!
Ok so Bound By Flame ...
Wasn't sure about it for the first 30 minutes but after 3 hours its growing on me. I think I said something very similar about Dark Souls 2 lol. Initially the game is nothing special visually but the more I played it the better it looks, which is exactly what happened when I got Dark Souls 2.
The gameplay is a cross between The Witcher and Fable with a constantly changing story decided by player decisions similar to Dragon Age and which also allows for replayability with both good and evil branching paths. I read it was kind of a mashup of all the great things about many other games which is a very accurate statement.
I am playing the PS4 version which I think looks decent in 1080p and I have no issues with the framerate which is consistently fluid for most of the time that I played the game. It also makes use of the dual shock 4 features which I wasnt expecting since the game was ported from Xbox360/PS3 I think. The environments seem cel-shaded at times and could be better visually, especially those in the first hour of the game but the character models look decent.
After seeing plenty of videos, I had concerns about the combat but it's actually quite good and is very tactical! Im not sure I like the switchable warrior/ranger modes yet though and seem to just stick to swinging a sword for most of the time. Parrying is important against tough enemies as is blocking.
The menus were somewhat overwhelming and the GUI could be better but it does the job and the equipment screen which previews character customization is nice.
The game hasnt had much coverage at all and one of my gamer friends who has a PS4, hadnt even heard of it. I think it might have something to do with being published by Focus Interactive and created by French developers Spiders, which don't have much of a history and are not exactly renowned for AAA titles of any sort.
That was one of my concerns that the game wouldn't be very good but I think it was worth the risk.
My only complaints so far is the very poor lip synching and slightly cheesy dialog with a surprising amount of cursing, not that that is a bad thing lol. The lack of an ability to dodge in warrior mode is frustrating and there is also no jumping in the game but there are areas where X can be pressed to traverse a small drop or climb up to a slightly higher area.
I have a level 8 character so far and have upgraded a couple of weapons and crafted some armour but will be playing some more after work later
A solid 7/10 so far I think.
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Hmm I hated Mars War Logs however I like Bound By Flame lol
Played this a bit last night, and my god! The dialogs/writing must've been written by some frustrated highschool kid, because they are by far the worst thing about this game. Other than that, I do like the game, I like the combat and the upgrade system. It feels like The Witcher 1 with crappy writing.
I tried both the PC version and the X360 version, and the PC version looks nice but I found that controls (playing it with a x360 gamepad) are a bit laggy during combat especially compared to the x360 version, which looks fine for a x360 version, which seems a lot more responsive. That issue might be due to my PC, I'm not sure yet, I'll have to look into it.
So far however I do like it for the mechanics, but hate it for the writing/dialogs.Will play more of it, such a shame about the writing though, I don't remember Mars WL being that awful in that department.

Mars was the same , they had to redub the voices , write new text ... this game original language is French and they have horrible problems translating text from ... French to English
but then we get this LULZ :
Code:
Jehanne Rousseau, CEO of Spiders Studio, when asked about the game in an interview on June 15, 2013 she stated that "Bound by Flame is like Mars on the game-play aspect, but of course the universe is completely different" and "We really tried to listen to all the critics we had from the players, from the press, and we tried to work differently on some aspects that were very poor in Mars. Now we have more of a budget and more time to develop it, so we tried to improve all the things we can."
