I admit that the jetpack in Elex 2 is fun, especially when fully upgraded (and when using a mod to get the unlimited fuel before finishing the game). PB knew people liked it in 1 and developed it further in 2, so they had at least some ability to listen to fans.
Meanwhile Biowere wanted to remove flying from Anthem, because it hurt their feelings gamers might miss ground content.

tbh i loved g1-2, risen 1 and 3 and elex but fact is they kinda didnt really evolve.
I liked their game design but all games had still the same jank or weird issues like melee combat being bad/broken or shitty character models etc.
Guess they finally paid the price for not evolving enough.

anyone tried his mods? quite a large pack of mods (ranging from stupid to really adding something good, from the looks of it), also available for ELEX 2 (this is actually a port of some of those mods to ELEX 1).
Might give it a try with ELEX 2 hehe (never tried the game).

Elex 1 has fun exploration. If you see a building on the map it will not be a randomly generated outpost, but something handplaced.
I still think the available content would profit from a smaller world, but it carried the gameplay nicely amongst a pretty forgettable plot.

On their site there are also polish and german (duh) versions of this message. Kinda feel like they should've prepared a russian one too.

Presumably this wouldnt affect the Gothic remake as Piranha Bytes have nothing to do with it?
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Remake is still alive for now, but the earliest we'll see it is 2025.

I honestly don't care about the remake. I highly doubt they can catch exactly what made that game so good and translate that into a modern game.
I also stopped caring about Piranha Bytes since they don't ever seem to know what made Gothic Games good in the first place. Alawys trying to modernize the Gothic formula only served to make mediocre games that were neither meat nor fish. Either do a real gothic-like game or make a modern game. Elex 1 was kind of fun. But I never finished Elex 2 and I found the setting both awkward and laughable, though somehow charming in its jank. I can put up with alot, but Elex 2 just became boring.
I'll replay Gothic I and II, Risen I and sometimes even Gothic 3 for the nostalgia.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Gothic 2 remains their best game for me. I don't think it's nostalgia, because Chronicles of Myrtana followed their principles of design fairly accurately and was amazing.
I also like Risen 2 and 3, it's Elex 2 I also could not finish.

Yeah, Chronicles of Myrtana was amazing for a mod. I'll probably replay that one too once in a while.

it's too bad the controls have aged so poorly for G2, they feel so stiff and slow (or "digital"). Other than that the game is amazing.

Alas, when even the most loyal fanbase loses trust in your work and at the same time you fail to appeal to new users, there aren't many possible outcomes left for a small-ish studio.
With ELEX 2 for instance it would have been sufficient to repropose the same game in a slightly different dress with just a few QoL tweaks here and there, but for some (arcane) reason, PB thought it would be great to jeopardize their legacy once more. Between the absolutely baffling introductory hours/dialogues, the terrible initial performance + camera/m&kb settings and the game itself progressively turning into a Korean-like grindfest, it's difficult to even find a logical thread in their modus operandi. The game does have some decent content and I still had more fun with it than DA:I & most tripeA stuff since I'm a jankie, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing. *shakes fist*

Same, it's been silently sitting in my .txt backlog and forgot about its existence since I was busy trying out new games. Hopefully it will serve as a nice palate cleanser for the future

At this point you can wait till 2025 when version 2.0 hits. No new quests, but they'll add spells, some smaller locations, equipment and QoL improvements.
