Well that was fucking stupid I'm gonna show myself the doors out of the fortress
Nah, the menus are pretty clogged and the popups not very intuitive. But it's faaaar better than the original
So far? It's DF, now with a sweet tileset and a clickable UI, in it's newest iteration.
You love the original? You love this.
You don't know it/never tried? It's as good as ever a time to do so
i dont even know how to dig. tutorial isn't super helpful. says click the surface, go down one level, click again, the only thing this does is deselect that yellow square. and yes i have stairwell selected.
edit: ah, so i was going up one level, not down.. the graphics while better are still kind of vague, will take some time to get comfortable with the UI
This really caught me by surprise, the greatest game ive played. I spent like 5 years playing this at work. LOVED every minute of it. This release has brigthened my week. TIME FOR FUCKING DF.
Ah shit. First issue i encountered is that I cannot mark an animal to be butchered. The icon is outside of the livestock window and unresponsive. I've got an obsessed dwarf but he needs bones to craft some crazy shit

In the original, having a "refuse" stockpile outside (dead shit might rot and miasma the fort otherwise) tends to give them an open-air "pet cemetery" to pick bones from
I know that in some (way) earlier builds, they would stroke their dicks about bone/whatever material of an almost random origin (which you couldn't, realisticaly, have in your possession, or at hand), while I think that they now should almost 100% use something that is supposed to be available somehow in your starting biome/area.
I also think that "moods" still work the same, so give that cunt what he needs, and he, mostly, will become LEGENDARY in said skill at the end of his dwarven crack-fueled project

Well if he didnt give him his bone he probably is chopping heads off by now
Not always, they generaly get super depressed and end up at the end of some local pond.

On the item is an image of Lopin the dwarf in horse bone. Lopin is surrounded and cooked by the dwarves.
This release is a WOP, not the polished gem to be expected, after 15 fucking years.
Also, the pricetag doesn't help. 15 would have been more palatable.
